Four Years Writing - A Hub Pages Birthday
My Years at Hub Pages
I started here totally on a whim. I wanted to write and I didn't want it to cost me any money so, lo and behold I found Hub Pages. Of course I was a little nervous hanging my name out there on a site I never heard of so I choose the name Tillsontitan.
There were so many writing sites, but I started to write here and little by little I started getting comments on my writing. Little by little I started meeting people. It was surprising. Total strangers were reading my work and liking it. I knew I had made the right choice joining Hub Pages and I knew I had found a home, and I never looked back.
I'm writing this hub because I just read the hub of our marvelous Sunshine celebrating her wonderful four years on HP. Congrats Linda!

People I've Met
The followers of my first couple of hubs have left Hub Pages. So sorry to see them leave, however, there are so many others I have met and stayed friends with over this wonderful four year ride. Among the first were moonlake, mary615, and rebeccamealey. Then I wrote a hub about writing and along came Au fait!
I was starting to get the feeling for this and finding the nicest people. My next hub about my pond and fish was truly a hook for reeling in friends. This is where I met PegCole17, rajan jolly, and alocsin. Next came my Catholic School hub and this one was really another winner, fpherj48, Vellur, Peggy W, and Frank Atanacio. Does it seem like I'm throwing names around? I am. These folks have been the greatest and we're still reading each other's hubs four years later.
The Fifties was a great time and my hub about the Fifties brought me DDE, and Rolly A Chabot. Are you seeing a pattern here? The more hubs I wrote the more comments I got and the more people I met. Several hubs later brought me Sunshine625. Still in my first year, I actually stopped in March as the list was getting rather long to include here. To all my wonderful friends I didn't list please know you are a part of my life and Hub Pages that keeps me here and happy.
Anyone reading this who doesn't belong to Hub Pages should begin to see a pattern I keep talking about. As I wrote hubs I made friends. Please note that leaving comments on hubs you read is a bonus not only to the hub's writer, but to you. You'll make a lot of more friends by leaving comments.
Writing means sharing. It's part of the human condition to want to share things - thoughts, ideas, opinions.— Paulo Coelho
Not only did I make wonderful friends but I learned so much about my craft! Bill Holland, known as billybuc is a constant teacher. He provides us with such insight into writing and just about every aspect of it. Shauna, known as Bravewarrior also gives us writing hints together with insights into a number of other subjects. Did I mention her great short stories? I can't possibly mention all the wonderful people here who have taught me so much but I cannot leave out two more who make up the most important people to me on HP. They are generous and loving and reach out to help even when you don't ask for it, Maria, known here as marcoujor and Mike, known here as mckbirdbks. If you check out these four people you'll see what I mean, but there are so many more here and all teach us in their own way.
I have learned about world travel from Bill, known here as bdegiulio, all kinds of things about England, not to mention hauntings and the like from Nell Rose who just happens to come from England. The list is really endless.
Being on Hub Pages has been the greatest experience of my life. I have met all these wonderful people, I am writing, and I am learning right in the comfort of my own home. What more could I (or you) ask for?
You fail only if you stop writing.— Ray Bradbury
Is this a happy rant? I guess you could say so. I would just like the world to know what awaits them in this special place called Hub Pages. There is a staff here running things and though we don't always understand their methods of rating writers or hubs, they are always there and very helpful. Answering questions is their forte. People like Christy Kirwan from San Francisco. Of course there are more but Christy and I follow each other's writing and took an apprentice course together right here on HP.
There are numerous postings on Hub Pages, by staff, to help understand Hub Pages. Postings about what is considered a good hub, one that HP would feature or call an Editor's Choice. Even if a hub isn't chosen for one of those honors, it is still published and read. If you're really interested in making money HP Help is the place to go with lots of information about SEOs (Search Engine Optimization) as well as how to set up a Hub Pages account, an Amazon account, and more.
If you scour Hub Pages you will find lots of hubs just like this one. You see, each time we celebrate a Hub Birthday we want to tell everyone how happy we are to be here for another year. A lot of sites come and go but Hub Pages is certainly here to stay.
Want to know what to write in a sympathy card? There's a hub for that. Want to learn about attractions in Hanoi? There's a hub for that. How about Buffalo Bill or gossiping? Yup, there are hubs for that and hubs about "how to" from cooking to crafting. I'm telling you its like its own Wikipedia!
Hub Pages is a revenue sharing site with so many benefits. You may not wind up a millionaire from writing on Hub Pages, well not financially anyway, but you will in the knowledge and friendships you find here.
If you want to be a writer, remember what Ray Bradbury said, "You fail only if you stop writing" and Hub Pages is the best place to be to write. Here at Hub Pages you can write, get feedback on your writing, make friends, and read to your heart's content. I have been privileged and honored to be a member of Hub Pages for four years!
