From the Seed- a poem
From the Seed

Evil is like a malignancy,
the seed of which lies dormant within us.
When a life chooses darkness as a course,
time after time, evil grows,
and its influence gains power.
We all have this potential,
but it is up to us whether we feed this tiny seed,
nourish this dark intent within the soul.
It is the weak, who open themselves to darkness,
to focus on the negativity in life,
to give themselves a deluded feeling of power,
a feeling of worth that in truth eludes them.
Once chosen this path is set,
and the souls recedes from potential,
cowers in the dark corners of the void.
Then and only then does evil appear,
and the expression of these souls
takes on a new form.
They then become animals, unpredictable,
not born of logic, bound by morality
or any boundaries of social acceptance or normality.
These soulless individuals become a law to themselves,
twisting truth, manipulating lives to attain their goal
of hurt and destruction,
all born of their inner self-loathing and ineptitude.
Evil is in essence, weakness,
a vile and untethered hatred for the beauty in life,
and the realisation that they themselves,
are not a part of it.
With potential gone, evil resides in an empty vessel,
a shell of what could have been,
now a reflection of hatred and vengeance,
action without substance,
life without purpose,
death within life.
