Frost On the Pumpkin

Winter is approaching

The treater’s have tricked

and the costumes put away

darkness falls by mid afternoon

which shortens a day

The air is brisk as it howls

blowing around pedals from roses

the jack ‘o lanterns are chilled

with frost on their noses

Even the animals don’t

want to play

they gather up food to save

for another day

The trees are scandalous

flaunting their naked limbs

dancing in the wind

as the night sky dims

Autumn is nearing its end

with winter teasing

snowflakes fall now and then

some find it most unpleasing

Like a circle the seasons rotate

from one to the next

we all have our favorites

although winter tends to make one perplexed

cre8ivOne,

Greetings from MAKUSR. Your poem is short and beautiful. It complements the season well.

Lots of Love,

Hi cre8ivOne.

A lovely poem that is as true as they come.

Here in Europe the trees have lost their green coats, winds have lost their warmth and the clocks have been put back an hour so the night comes early and is long. So it will take another 3 - 4 months before we see any green on the trees again.

Take care and have a nice day.

Thank you Makusr

I tried to capture the essence of autumn's departure!

Lovely to meet you and thanks for the post. Winter is often dreaded but I do find some beauty in it. I am trying to learn how to embrace each season with an open mind : )

I enjoyed this one. I particularly love Fall so I am very sad to see it coming to it's end, but the good thing is it will come back around next year.

Thank you PixelstoLife

I just felt compelled to write about the wonderful fall season. I enjoy fall as well, it's what comes after it that is harder to take!
