Men who inspired me

How do i know the limitation of my knowledge? Searching for a clue to this brought me close the lives of five men that left great impact in my life though there was this little boy called Harry, you see there is something about Harry,a boy who was twenty three years younger when i met him,it is hard not to have a father at five. A father creates an impact in one's life but great men leaves impacts in others. What about great boys?

It was the Valentine's day with Lovers and People all over the street and shops, all the cafes were packed with people, no one seem to notice this poor lad, with his tarted short and dirty slippers, he walked into the shop, i saw him and thought that he was one of those street kids,a hungry mouth to feed once again.

He walked up to the counter and gave the florist a worn out coin,

Sir he said, can this buy me a rose flower? I want to buy a rose for my mother.

The florist asked him to wait aside but something told me to help him out yet another part of me, i guess the stronger part of me held me while i watched this little brat with amazement.I paid for my flowers, went outside and kept watch through the glass then suddenly, i saw the florist neatly rap six roses, placed them in a cartoon and told Harry.

"These are for you."

He collected the coin and this joyful lad walked out form the shop all smiles,by this time the stronger me left me a space and i called onto this Lion heart. From our discussion,i realized that he was five,no Dad to talk to and Mom worked everyday to keep food on the table, two elder sisters to share a single room with.

I felt my eyes wet while Harry continued telling me his story.

"I never knew i could buy not just one but six roses with my coin, you see sir, i have gone to five shops before this one but no one was willing to sell me nothing for my dime".

Of course that was the last time i saw him but the next day when i came back to the shop to pick up a newspaper,i had the chance to remind the florist how he amazed me the previous day but to my surprise this was what he had to say;

"You see sir, in the morning when i was arranging my flowers, i thought i heard a voice telling me to arrange some of my roses as special gifts,i wasn't sure then if i had lost my mind but i set six roses aside, tied them with beautiful red and golden ribbons,i have forgotten about those roses until the little boy came in and wanted to buy a rose with a coin, when i looked at him,i saw myself years ago and i remembered the time i was a kid, you know, i was poor too, my Dad was sick once and there was no money to care for him, could remember how a stranger gave me a 100 bulks for assisting him fix his flat tire, that 100 bulks saved my Dad's life, so the moment i heard the little boy speak,i realized who that voice was".

Sometimes in life things happen for us to get up

This experience impacted my life so much that each time i come across great hearts,i always want to be like them, but i cannot be what i am not neither will i get up for what i do not believe yet there are five men that have left me with five different powerful experiences.I will rather say that these Men are Men who inspired me.

"Olaudah Equiano".Do you know this man?

Get up

You see the people we meet in our lives matters so much, some leave a lasting impact in us while some just pass us by but the most important thing is the ability to recognize a great man when he come across you.To me there are five great men,i have had the honest privilege of coming in contact with.

Does it matter how you meet a great man?

To me, it doesn't matter how and where you meet a great soul,a man who changes others,a man who stand where others tremble,a lion heart, you see meeting is meeting, you can read about a great man and get inspired then find yourself get up before everyone else, you can listen to the speech of a great man and get motivated to leave your own prints for others yet to come.

I categorized these five great men into two groups;

1. The three that inspired me

2. The two that made me get up

One great thing about these two group of men is that they both left a lasting impact in my life, just like Harry did.I have not been me ever since i got in contact with them, reading about them uplifts me,knowing that they existed and exist makes me want to be like them but though i cannot be what i am not yet i can be what i want.

I know that by now you must be wondering who that florist was, as a matter of fact, it was me,my encounter with Harry changed my life. And ever since then, i have had the most descent, adorable, honorable and beautiful opportunity of meeting great men.

Men that move things

Men that make you stumble

Men that make you smile

Men that make you get up

And be what you want to be

GREAT MEN THAT INSPIRES OTHERS.

Men that Inspired me

I enjoyed reading your Hub.

Very inspiring. Its nice to put a ray of sunshine in the lives of people we meet day to day - be it for a few seconds. (some could be going through hell inside, but our simple gesture makes a little difference)

Nice photo's of inspiring men in your hub. Amongst many, Mandela inspires me. He didn't seek Revenge on how he was treated, but pursued peace instead.

Best Wishes.

Rossimobis, my brother- your have made my posture buckle. I am so humbled. You have absolutely broken me down. Let me get away from me though.---I've opened this up 3 times now and re-closed it not knowing what to say after writing all the rest. I just can't say what I want to say. Thank you for being my brother.

I know Bob Marley. He's is a giant among the musicians and Jamaica and the Rastas. He is large.

I am so surprised and delighted that you have been inspired by Ernesto "Che" Guevara. I have wanted to do a story on him. He never committed actions for himself. He died against all odds against oppression. I read his biography. People will say he killed. But he was not blood thirsty. He killed to save. No matter from where the criticisms come. He lived the hero's life. Che was a giant among giants. There is so much killing today for profit. There is so much killing for greed. Whatever Che did - he did for the absolute dirt poor people who were oppressed by governments and profiteers like the United Fruit Company. There are bad things to happen but Che never killed for greed. Che was indeed a hero.

Now I need to find out about Olaudah Equiano and Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.

Then I want to find out who this Micky Dee is!

(on elbows-face in the palms of my hands - I read)... absorbing each paragraph, yet thinking at the same time, I will want to read this a 2nd, maybe a 3rd time over -what great thoughts remembered, what great men admired - I slowly scroll down the pictures, reading the names, then come upon the last picture, see a soldier , then a name..MickyDee !.. ( straightened up in my chair, a smile on my face. ) I know this man !.. awe sweet Micky.. I have known him for a short time, yet his Hubs that I have read, the Micky that I chat with, is yes.. a true inspiration to man and woman, I am truly blessed to have crossed paths with Micky. And just maybe someday, we will have that coffee or meal in town Micky, just maybe. :-)

Rossimobis, what a truly heart felt, inspirational Hub. Thank you for sharing your deepest thoughts and I look forward to reading more of your works.

Yo'! Real men do cry! You took words and stabbed my heart and cracked the layer of stone. I study Warriors, Che was one of the greats, the Warrior forum I post on and still do and, at my old age train with the company who hosts that forum. Train with new weapons awaiting the day I'm called to stand up again. I hope I'm able to do what it is I'm called to do. I have crossed swords with a few great men, I have crossed swords with a lot who thought they were great men. I have fought eye to eye, hand on hand with true Warriors and in the final seconds I have paused and looked for the reflection of the eye that was not one who would spit in my face and pulled my kabar back and stood up and walked away. As for the belligerent eye I pushed onward. I have been as far from those days as I can get, Mickey Dee and me have gone back there again and you have taken me back deeper to the thoughts and feelings, I try so hard to beat.

I just read your heart and hope down the road we might become friends. I'll crawl up on your wagon and go for a ride 'til then.

With Love,Respect and Peace

Hi I am so impressed not only because you put Micky Dee there, (he is a great man for me as well,) but I was touched with the way you tell story, it almost made me cry and I literally stopped doing everything here and sit down for a moment, and think.

I am a fan of Mandela and Che-- Che I adore him, I like him, he is an idealist but he put actions to his ideals, he will always be my IDOL< I adore him ever since I was in collgee and read his works. His words are wisdom to me and I know he care a lot. How many Che Guevarra shirts I have, a dozen, I put again or two to save just to buy his staff like shirts and books.

I also admire how you put these things together and how you write and I agree with you, mostly I like it when you say.

"but though i cannot be what i am not yet i can be what i want."

I dont normally fan people, but YOU I am a FAN of yours now, Good day and thank you for this inspiring hub, Maita

but though i cannot be what i am not yet i can be what i want.
