Ghostly Spirits in the Sky

The dark clouds came rolling in

and the evening turned

to the black of night

as lightning bolts flashed across the heavens

the booming sound of thunder was heard

from somewhere up above

came the faint whispers

of spirits disturbed by the storm

so upset they were

the dead awoken by the thunder

that I saw them gather in the stormy night

some dancing, some running they filled the sky

you could see them in between the flashes of lightning

ghostly white swirls

among the rolling dark clouds

and as they disappeared into the storm

a skeleton upon a large, ghostly horse

threw a giant thunder bolt

that lit up the sky

ending in a crash of booming thunder

it was no wonder

that the storm took on force

till it howled itself out

and with the coming of the dawn

the spirits all retreated

and the blood red sun rose

upon a world all shiny and clean

from the storm and the rain

that had left behind raindrops

as bright as colorful pearls

upon the leaves, the grass

and flower blossoms

I'm swinging to the beat of the music. Makes me feel good in the moonlight shadow. I too, love a rainy night. So Romantic!

Ghosts, eh? some dance; some disturbed ...you present a vivid scenery in both video and poetry. Excellent!

This was a little different from your usual love poems Rasma, but I loved the vivid descriptions of the storm and the aftermath. Beautifully done.

Beautiful photo and your poetry is as well. Your imagery comes to life with the words you wrote. Nicely done.

Rasma, you are such a prolific writer of poetry. I am amazed how you can write such lovely poems about love, nature, inspiration or hope, and make it look so easy. :-)

Thank you RJ

Aww thank you Genna. One of my little secrets is that I know the muses confer with my poetic dad up above and between them they give me the inspiration I need

Rasma, I love the imagery in this poem. The vision of disturbed spirits roaming the skies until the rain cleansed the earth is awesome. It brings to mind that famous Norman Greenbaum song.

Thank you Shauna. I believe I know which song you are talking about. It could have done well here to. Just somehow this one came to mind first. Hope you have a great weekend.
