Go to him for he awaits .......

For Jerry
For Jerry

The soldiers dressed in assorted camoflage
move in slow unison
The folds of the flag carefully tucked by
knowing fingers
the creases are permenant now much
like those on the faces of the soldier friends
of my brother
And as the alabaster clouds
begin to part
clearing away
that worry of rain
One cool breeze after another
begins to blow
among the weeping
maple trees
And it is there I hear
your voice
Echos in memory
sounds of joy
laughter
and love
But then that's who you are
no ?
Now the solemn whispers of
a grateful nation
The bugle taps softly on
a total silence
and then seconds later
echo among whispering pines
on the other side of
the wooded knoll
I glance slowly around at
old friends and new
I look for signs of
family
I look for you
you are not there to see
and yet .............
Go to him now for he awaits you
He needs you
somehow more than I

Beautiful! Called to heaven way to soon...letting go is never easy. Heaven waiting with arms open wide, but always so sad to say goodbye.

I felt that deeply. Well done it could not have been easy to paint such a vivid picture with words.

Your beautiful poem tells a sorrowful story. We always need them but are happy in a bittersweet way to know they are finally home for good. Bless you my poet friend.

A beautiful and heart-felt tribute. Gone, but not forgotten, and you have described it so well in your poem. Blessings.

Just beautiful. Yes, we all must someday go to Him some sooner others later. Loved this. Passing it on.

Your faith will help you cope! How lucky you are to have it - and how lucky it is to have such an eloquent and good hearted believer to tout it's benefits. I wish you all the best - good karma always!
