God's Promises- A Poem

My aunt wrote this poem after my cousin died unexpectedly this year. He had just been saved, finding his faith in the Lord. We all took it so hard and are still finding his death hard. He died at the age of 19, married. Leaving behind a wife that was with child. The poor thing. But anyway I really felt the need to share this poem while I thought of him today.

God's Promises

Sometimes we just don't understand

The heartache or the pain

With eyes closed, on bended knee

The tears still fall like rain

Sometimes just breathing hurts like hell

Hands wrapped around our hearts

We try to keep going through force of will

Yet wonder where to start

Memories are all we have of you-

Thoughts and prayers from friends

Souvenirs from days gone by-

When will the heartache end?

The hole you left is enormous

Never to be refilled

But for you time stands still

It's hard to see beyond today

With the pain still fresh and new

We took for granted the life you had

The years with you too few

The hands on the clock keep turning

We see the dawn and dusk

We push ourselves through another day

By doing what we must

And remembering God's promises

That's all that we can do

In a field of many flowers

He reached down and chose you

We may not understand it

But it remains the simple truth

Have faith, God said, and worry not

For I'll never overburden you

Look upon the footprints

And you'll see my promise kept

When you thought you could go no further

I carried you every step

Past the hurt, past the turmoil,

Past the anger and the pain

To cleanse your heart and help you heal

I sent the tears like rain

Through your tears and anguish

m Remember you are not alone

I only reached down from heaven

To take an angel home.

In memory of Corey Watson, age 19

Thank you. We are all still mourning his death though he died in July. It's just all very hard. I think what brings it up again is that his wife just had their daughter.

We will never be able to explain everything about life or even why some things are allowed to happen. However, when these seasons come, we must trust God even the more. This is how I am able to overcome extreme pain and you will too. So sorry for your lost.

Be blessed...
