He gazed into the eyes

of his dying father,

grateful for all he saw there,

he said his good-byes,

and there was no fear,

no crying, not a single tear,

he thanked his father

for everything he learned,

his voice deepened,

somehow both somber and stern,

his father’s throat tightened so much,

it hurt,

he felt his child’s hand,

it was a magical touch,

and he too wanted to be strong,

so he did not cry,

death wasn’t right or wrong,

but he to had to say his good-byes,

his child’s face seemed to draw closer,

he fought back a choke,

his eyes glowed warmly

and when he spoke,

his voice sounded so tender,

there were no regrets, no frustration,

his last word held such an impact,

so real was the sensation,

in fact,

after the good-bye,

his spirit moved closer to the sky.

Death isn’t right or wrong, it is simply a reality. A great poem my friend.
