Grow Up---NEVER!

Stop and think back when you were a kid, why did adults keep asking you stupid questions like, "When you grow-up what are going to be?"

Well being a rough and tough tom-boy, no dolls for me!  In fact a dress was something that hung in the closet.  Jeans and tee-shirts are still my attire today.  So when asked this important question which would change from week to week I most likely would answer, "I'm going to barrel race in the rodeo's."  My Cajun father broke and rode horses at the rodeo's so it was a natural response.

Of course these people that were asking this stupid question would sadly shake their head and say "Oh why don't you want to be a nurse or a doctor."  of course in those days a girl did not have many choices.

Today's World:

Today's children are still being ask the same question and probably none of them are choosing barre-racing.  Yet they have more choices put at there finger tips to choose from.  Maybe their parents are able to motivate them in the direction of a  doctor, lawyer or following a more professional field.

Yet, after working 42 years in industry in different  fields, why do I continually hear people that are  now retired complain that they had hated their JOBS and wished that they had tried other avenues.

My friends I am here today to say---Yes we all will grow old but we do not have to GROW-UP. Okay maybe it is time to be that kid again and show those silly adults what you REALLY want to do?

No! I do not barrel race in a rodeo ---but it is a GREAT RIDE.

Where did that little ball GO?
Where did that little ball GO?

Of course you can always travel to all those fantastic places you dreamed about but as you can see I can only go FORTH-CLASS.

Not only did I grow up having the youngest mom among my peers, but I will always have the youngest mom at heart, even though we're both senior citizens -- I still do!

Jerilee growing up with you and your brother and sister was a gift that I did not have as a kid. It was so much fun that I really see no reason to stop, besides now that we are considered to be "senior citizens" they expect us to be a kid--so ALL-ABOARD!!!!! LOVE YA

Peg it is a pleasure to met you too. I believe that in this time when all the news and problems that surround us we need to reach out and grab just a little piece of humor and laughter to brighten the day.

Thanks Charlie, not growing-up has allowed me many times to pick myself up--and dust myself off and now look back and laugh like h-ll.

Hey, I too am ashamed of neglect many of my friends on hubpages but like you said we just get lost in writing and reading. So let's just keep on TRUCKING.

I am glad I found your hub by you leaving a comment in one of mine. I loved reading your profile and I am the same. I have worked in various careers and now in semi-retirement I am still a big kid at heart. I have done everything from selling homes, selling transport services, a chance at a hockey career if it hadn't been for injuries sustained. I love life and I'm just pushing 60 and don't intend to roll over and give up on life. I love the rodeo and clowns and barrel fun. Nice to meet you. Hugs

saddlerider1, I will tell you the same thing as my daughter (jerilee wei) as you might already know---you both have a special gift---WRITING.

I will be looking forward to chasing you around on all subjects here on hubpages. Remember variety is the spice of life. Hugs right back at ya.

I'm a big fan of wisdom and am grateful for people like you who choose to share it. Most especially, wisdom with a smile.
