Guilt of a Conscience Mind

By Tony DeLorger © 2013

Words spoken in malice,

live long in a conscience mind,

attempting to hold guilt at arms length,

like an unwavering judgement,

a finger tick tocking,

a constant reminder of trespass.

How we fall from our own expectations,

we, the most critical of self,

a demanding and zealous master,

ready to exact vengeance,

on self awareness,

and sabotage the very core of imperfection.

In hast do we speak,

when challenged, outrage,

when truth uncovered, righteous defence,

far less capable of admitting wrong,

than denying it with utter indignation,

and therefore reeking havoc on the unsuspecting.

In heart we know, the dark seeds of ego,

unblemished by mistakes,

rather, displaced onto the objects of accusation,

clean and free from mind,

and if not for abiding guilt,

free from knowledge and the knowing of an honest heart.

You may fool others, but not yourself for very long.

Honesty saves us in the end.

Aaahhh Tony very deep poem here I believe it speaks to all of us we all do wrong and feel that guilt piercing through our hearts it's like sins that torture our soul and thanks to you I've already got the nudge for inspiration on a poem I wanted to write awhile now.

The only think that can take away that guilt is true earnest prayers to God asking his forgiveness and admitting we were wrong not making excuses.

Thanks much I will be sharing this :)
