Heart In Eclipse

Can love really make flowers grow?

They say it’s true, but I don’t know

Love is such a fleeting game

So hard to capture; so hard to tame

Love can make you want to trust again

They say it’s true, but I don’t know

Only a fool would try it twice

Stay back, it’ll hurt you, take my advice

Can love be hiding in places yet unseen?

They say it’s true, but I don’t know

Love seems both here and there

Watch out, don’t get hurt, does love care?

Love overcomes the hurt and the pain

They say it’s true, but I don’t know

Love will take all you have and will

Hold tight, lest you feel the cold chill

Can love ever be not once but twice?

They say it’s true, but I don’t know

Twice around comes with a jaded eye

Don’t be fooled, lust only leaves you to cry

Love is what this world is all about

They say it’s true, but I don’t know

So many broken hearts every;where

Think twice, don't let your heart in there

Can love really save a drowning soul?

They say it’s true, but I don’t know

So much water swallowed first time around

Swim, swim, or your heart will drown

Love is the start, the middle, and the end

They say it’s true, but I don’t know

Once lost all directions are gone

Hide with your heart, go it alone

Wayne...Somebody once sang " Love is wonderful, the second time around "...It's true...I know from experience...

This poem feels like you are talking to yourself...I don't think you will take your own advise...some sweet thang will snap you up in a Dallas minute...then starts the roller coaster of life...like being bucked off a horse, climb right back on, and ride her, baby, ride her !!!

Thanks for letting us see your " feminine side " my friend...Larry

@maven101...already happened Larry! About 13 years ago although it took me 10 years to get there. But you are right, it is better the 2nd time I think. You might say that I was writing from a "historical perspective." Thanks for the read! WB

ok so you have read my works and you know my pain but i say yes love can happen not only twice but as many times as it likes. there is never a limit at how many times something can be broken but then put together again if you have a swift hand and know how to use it.

Wayne,

I once saw a saying that your verse seems to repeat. The saying was, "It's better to have loved and lost, much better!!!"

@JulieMcDaniel...glad that you feel that way Julie because it is so true. We shameful human beings do have the ability to heal time and time again. We also have the ability to learn from our mistakes which is a wonderful gift.

@Tom Whitworth...yes, Tom, there is a bit of that showing here...the emotion and inspiration came from a time when I felt exactly as you have put it. Thanks. WB

Thanks, Wayne-this is beautifully written. I hope I never have to find out if love can be found twice-I met my first love years ago and we're still going strong.

Wayne Brown, I'm on the dark side of the moon...in my beach chair with my sunglasses on, making a toast with Dionysus...am I an optimist or what? LOL! Each one of your poems has it's own flavor, just like the rest of your writing, truly enjoyable. ~ Laura

@rose56...Thank you, I felt this was an emotion that many have felt in their life and wanted to express their doubts. I certainly experienced it at one time but worked my way through it. Thanks for the encouragement! WB

Love in my life has been like quicksilver and the hour glass sand slipping through my fingers. It's been very elusive for me, I have loved and been loved but the Desperado nature in me kept me moving on. Lost love happens, and for many twice around LOVE finds them and sticks to them like honey on a honeycomb. I still remain a Desperado:0) Loved this verse....."Twice around comes with a jaded eye Don’t be fooled, lust only leaves you to cry" Very expressive Hub WB..loved it....peace

@saddlerider1....Thanks Ken...the thing that I have learned about love is that you generally don't find it. Instead, it finds you and at the time you least expect it to show up. It's much akin to snipe-hunting. Thanks for your good words! WB
