HOLY-ROLLIN' NOVACAIN

By: Wayne Brown

(WRITER'S NOTE: Wrote this one on an inspiration from lalesu after hearing about her car!)

Down the road in a yellow blind flashing blur
The smile; the blonde hair; you know it's her
In a topless Z-Car colored yellow insane
Miss Laura's out drivin' Holy-Rollin' Novacain

Headed to the beach where water laps the shore
To sit in the sun writin' a line of poetry, maybe more
Prayin' all the way for sunshine; not a drop of rain
Speedin' to the sugary sand in Holy-Rollin' Novacain

Got the tunes blastin' with John Cougar Mellencamp
She knows how to rock 'n roll; does a little vamp
On the left she goes past; truckers call it Montfort Lane
A blonde-hair smilin' girl drivin' Holy-Rollin' Novacain

She's got the canvas top rolled back; a drink in her cup
She's got a smile for everyone; her disposition is up
Just celebrating the rising sunshine; ready to cuss the rain
It's Miss Laura drivin' fast in yellow Holy-Rollin' Novacain

Ol’ ZZ Top is singin’ about that ‘Sharp Dressed Man’
Laura's tryin' to stay under 70; there’s doubt she can
But the Z-Car is beggin’ please take off this bridled strain
Laura’s soon doin’ 88 in fast movin’ Holy-Rollin’ Novacain

Miss Laura really likes her wheels callin' it a daddy hoss
It's over-poweringly flashy fast; a real hot road boss
And Laura's just a cute simple little country Jane
Blazin' happily past in her Holy-Rollin' Novacain

I refuse to read this until you get that ad out of the way. The first two paragraphs are half gone Wayne. Come join us in the poetry threads in the forum.

@ralwus...how about briefing me on the removal of them and I will be glad to do it! WB

OK, I reckon it was a pop-up as it is gone now. Weekend ya know? spammers. Anyway, yes, you captured the lady speeder in this one to a Top, ZZ and all. LOL I enjoyed the ride, she will too.

btw I like the 'shut up and write a poem' thread best. the other is tied to dreaming, which is OK.

Wayne, I really like this one. I think it's one your best.

The rhythm and meter so suits your speeder; the pretty little blond drivin' that bomb.

Write on.

Wayne Brown! I finally got all those knots untangled and came running as fast as I could!!! Never have I read anything as delightful as this!! Just when I thought I had smiled my biggest smile I see my name lyrically woven with three of my favorite things; sunshine, song and my beloved Holy Rollin' Novocaine!

Wayne Brown, your are great, not only for being such a talented writer but for giving me this at just the perfect moment. I really needed it this weekend. Thank you so very much my friend. It's wonderful. I LOVE it!

BTW - She's named for the Kings of Leon Song - Holy Rollin' Novocaine ~ Laura ;D

@Christopher Price...Yep, she was speedin' right along. Thanks for the good comments. WB

@epigramman...Heck Colin, I got no where to go. Besides how can I be a cornstone when there are 160,000 writers and I have only 188 readers...not knockin' dead yet! LOL! But I appreciate the support! WB

@lalesu...Glad you liked it. I added the Kings of Leon song at the end today. I tried to get a photo of the car up but HP is not cooperating with this new system...won't load just grinds...maybe later. Enjoy! And thanks for the good words! WB

Wayne Brown, I just had to come back around again...to have poetry read to you, that's a great thing, but to have poetry written about you, well! That's a grand and glorious thing indeed! HRN hasn't come down out of the clouds all day! ~ Laura ;D

Great videos-tunes-pictures of the yellow bird and Ms laura blowing past me on the interstate rocking with my tunes in my big rig, looking down at this little deuce coupe, her blonde curls blowing in the wind and stepping on the fuel pedal to the floor blowing my doors off in the wind. Cool poem Wayne you rock to...keep em coming.

@saddlerider1...Thanks Ken, I tried to capture Laura's spirit in the verse. She seemed happy with it so maybe I came close. She'll definitely be out there rockin' it down the road! Thanks for the good comments! WB

I'm so very, very happy with it! As a matter of fact, I spent a wonderful six hours on I-65 in that little hypo full of Holy Rollin' Novocaine, gently nudging people out of my lane, haha!

@lalesu...Glad you still get the thrill! LOL! I figgered you for a nudger! LOL! Got two new poems on the books you need to read (Love's Sour Wine & A Simple Man) and give me some feedback...I have to keep edge sharp! WB
