H.O.W. Come Sit By Me A While : Sea Spray And Footprints.

Source
Source

Now then my friends; put your coats on as we are going for a visit to the beach!!!

Right has everyone finished their hot drinks and biscuits???Silly question isn't it !!!Ha ha ha!!

I'm glad I brought the biscuits out before our walk or you would probably have wolfed the whole lot if it had been on our return!!!

I grew up in a sea-side town in West Wales but spent most of my childhood exploring the countryside .

However I also have great memories of the beach too ; and this has stayed with me until today.

I love walking along the beach whatever the season;it certainly blows away those cobwebs of life and I walk home totally rejuvenated and also adorned with fresh and wondrous inspiration.Yesterday was such a day and began with me feeling a little stressed ; no reason why just one of those things!!!So wearing my coat and jeans I headed for the beach and remembering back to my childhood when I used to walk my Beagle Lassie on the beach all those years ago.

So best foot forward and all that. I shall take you on a trip; a trip which will be even more beautiful as Leona sing 'Footseps In The Sand.'

I do hope you enjoy!!!

Sea spray

Oh how refreshing

Seeping into each heart

A sense of bare-footed freedom

That great story of footsteps in the sand

Hearts full of natural beauty

So tenderly treasured

Yes come running through

Sea spray.

Source

The winter wind's blowing

And the waves a-crashing

The flag on the beach

Frantically waving.

x

The sunshine now setting

And the sky is darkening

I bade thee goodnight

Tomorrow returning.

x

Life's tide now so soothing

Protective and flowing

Each beauty now shines

That new beginning.

Source

Ebbing and flowing

I dance with the sea's tempo

Rhythmical motion.

Source

A sense of sweet belonging

giving my thoughts to thee

on the crest of life's wondrous tide.

So mesmerising

the ocean's strong call.

Each wave enveloped each gift

a gift from

the unconditional heart

of sweet

Mother Nature.

Cleansing and renewing

the once mottled beauty.

Each heart and soul unite

in sweet surrender;

in a great momentous adventure;

riding so freely

riding so high

in almost

clockwork precision!

Finding

a corner of the world

so rightly ours;

that well-fitting glove!

Flowing

fitting

and

caressing

each contour

of our whole being.........

as we contemplate

finding our world;

finding our niche.

Weary hearts to be consoled

a tired spirits to be rejuvenated.

The ocean's magical potion

conjures up a wondrous

princess of love;

a mermaid

moves on into flowing mode.

So full of that loving potion

as she rides so high

on the crest f a wave.

A sense of sweet belonging

sending each love to the heavens.

Allow the ocean's

magical potion

to fill our whole being;

our eager hearts;

our unconditional love

seeping into

each willing and eager heart.

Allow ourselves

to ride

freely

so high

so wondrous !

Take a hand

and follow the footsteps

of the one who lives

as a whole being

as a true person.

So that you may also

fly on the crest

of that wave

of life..............................

I hope you all enjoyed our visit to the beach this morning; I attach this hub to Bill's brilliant cause H.O.W. because it is so important to learn how to deal with the stresses in our lives.

Maybe many more of you could also share what makes you kick away those blues and make that sunshine brighter than ever.

For me it is sometimes to take a walk around the village where I live and of course with my new camera in hand.

I also love the beach and to walk across sandy dunes. This is as magical for me in winter as it is in the summer months.

I feel the stress floating away and it also makes wonderful memories from my childhood to come flooding back. Those wonderful memories are of me and my best friend Lassie running across the sand with me in my shorts and always bear footed.

Here's a very big thank you to a beautiful lady with an equally beautiful voice;Leona Lewis .

Three cheers for Leona:-

Hip hip !!!!!

Hooray!!

Hip hip !!!

Hooray!!!

Hip hip !!!

Hooray !!!!

Lots of love from my little corner of Wales to you all.

Have a great day and see you again very soon.

Eddy.

Dear Eddy, I can just see you running along the beach with your dog and feeling so free and happy! That feeling came through in your poetry, loud and strong. Lovely memories help our minds relax and release. For me it happens when I walk in the woods and smell the trees and plants in the air.

I love your pictures and music; always just right for the mood you are setting. Voted Way Up and Shared my friend!

Am I the only one in the Hub universe that finds this poorly written and ill-thought out? Literature, the meaningful sort, should take something we all know about and offer a unique and different take on a subject we are all familiar with. Saying something like -

Each wave enveloped each gift

a gift from

the unconditional heart

of sweet

Mother Nature. -

What does this actually mean? It feels lazy and offers nothing new.

Everyone on here seems to want to slap each other's back and tell one another how wonderful we are. Let's have a bit of reality. This kind of thing belongs at a Women's Institute for bored housewives, or a poetry group for people with no real ambitions for the kind of poetry that will make a difference.

I don't question your intentions, but this is pedestrian and lacking in any talent. Everything in the world isn't amazing. Truth is not completely beautiful. Truth treads the line between black and white. Looking at the wonders of Nature does not make all the bad things go away, it merely illuminates the difference between life and death.

Thank you for the wonderful poem. It brought back the memory of the smells and tiny drops of seawater in the air when the waves hit the beach. I expected crabs to start scurrying across my desk at anytime. Thank you for the smile the memories brought.

Well, Eddy, you have once more added a touch of beauty into my life, despite the words of Tallgardener. I don't know about you, but I get so tired of the pseudo-intellectual crap that he, and others, try to pass off. I saw them by the hundreds during the Sixties, in coffee shops, spouting their genius about what is truly talent and what is drivel....and I have grown weary of it. Beauty is measured by each of us; I do not claim to know why one person finds beauty in words and why one does not....it is a personal judgment for each of us, is it not?

I thank you for continuing to show the beauty in this world, and quite frankly I feel a bit sorry for those who are not open to it.

love,

billy

Oh thank you so much Billy your comment means the world. I shall be replying to his comment in a little while ; I am so happy to be sharing who I am. Like you Billy I feel so sad for him it sounds to me as if he has a big chip on his shoulder about something or other. A pretty sad way to through life though. Thank you again my dear friend and here's to so many more for us all to share on here (well not quite all obviously !!!)

Have A great day.

Eddy, this poem epitomizes what the ocean does for me also. It cleanses the spirit and frees the soul from the weightedness life throws our way. This was beautifully written. I was with you every step of the way, as I have been there myself - just not in Wales! Ha ha

I disagree entirely with tallgardener. Obviously he is not familiar with letting the soul spill out onto paper and has no appreciation for good poetry. As my mother always says 'if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all'!

I loved it Eddy, and not just because we are friends. I loved it because it came ever so eloquently from your heart!

Eiddwen profile image

Well Tallgardner I must say that I feel sorry ;not sorry that I wrote this hub but sorry for you.

What a sad way to travel through life ; you sound so bleak and lifeless.

Isn't there any sunshine in your life ?

Maybe as you travel through life you will lose that chip on your shoulder and may also allow yourself to leave a little light in !!Who knows !!!

I like the line you used about walking along the beach helps get the cobwebs out of your life! It's one of those that sticks to you! I also live near the beach of one of the Great Lakes! It becomes a big part of your identity. Thank you for sharing this lovely sonnet!

I have an incredible amount of respect for the human being you are Eddy. You are probably tired of hearing it from me but I learn many lessons by watching how you handle diversity, stress, loss and life's unfair situations. I hope you know how uplifting an affect you have on me.

To share: I spent my childhood on the beach as well. Cape Cod, Mass. has my heart and every summer I spend as much time there as possible. In the off season, walking and playing with my dog Bella or cooking with Mom in the kitchen relieves my stress. It is hard to feel down or concentrate on the negative when a 150 lb. dog demands your attention. It is also hard to not smile and feel good when cooking a meal with your 85 year old Mom.

Well, I agree Eddy that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If I don't really like a Hub I don't comment, I don't think any of us need that kind of negativity and I certainly don't think it warranted that amount of verbiage! As you can see that comment is in the minority.

For myself, I enjoyed it, you go girl!! There is nothing quite like a walk on a quiet beach, seeing your footprints, feeling the sea breeze, listening to the waves wash up and back.

We love you and a bit of mutual backslapping is fine, we all need a pep up sometime, not discouragement.

Have a great day

Mo

Eddy - I hope this produces the same laughter it did me every time my dear Irish Nana said it:

May those who love us, love us

And those who don't love us,

May God turn their hearts

And if he can't turn their hearts,

May he turn their ankles

So we will know them by their limping!

Blessings to ya Eddy!

Hello Eddy,

Like the many grains of sand on the beach so is the uniqueness of poetry. When reading others work, I do believe there are some lines we may totally lavish and understand completely, although some we may have to reread to get an understanding as the words are deep and deserve some pondering, but some are not for us to understand as it is the poets inner yearnings falling onto the page. Like life, some may understand us and some may not...but as writers...we keep on keeping on. You so graciously spill out your heart and soul, sharing your beautiful heart, and for that I thank you!

Love,

Sunnie

Eddy Looks like Tallgardener should take your advice and take a trip to the beach to release some stress.

Your beautiful poetry gives us that feel good, relaxed appreciation of Mother Nature. I can't imagine anything better than strolling along the beach to experience that sense of freedom and you take us right there and evoke happy memories.

Keep on doing what you're doing Eddy

Hugs

There is a little beach around the lake, here in Oklahoma. Where I grew up in Maine, I was a quarter of a mile from a rocky beach as the crow flies. It gave me a freedom of heart and soul. I miss it, but the lake's beach will more than suffice. Thanks for the memories, and I await your next piece.

I am listening to Leona as i type, how beautiful her voice, the song. I grew up along the Walbash river and loved the calmness the current brought. I never saw a sandy beach until a few years ago and i loved it too. I also love your poetry, it is beautiful and comes from your heart. Thank you my friend..

"Allow the ocean's

This has to be my favorite so far of your postings. If you have a chance, read Lessons Learned..my home sweet home series...much of it is about being down by the sea. I am haunted by the call of the sirens...always calling out to me...Haunted in a good way. Each day a piece of me longs to return to the beach and feel the salt air on my skin, to hug it tightly to me once again. The gulls swirling above calling out to me...o, you have taken me there once again. Thank you for sharing this with us. Voted up up and away +++

Eddy, my early life was spent growing up on a small island, for me the sea, the beaches, the ocean can invade the senses in the most amazing ways, there is something about the ocean that reaches deep into the human psyche like nothing else, except maybe a walk through a beautiful garden. As you can see your beach retreat is wonderful.I miss the beach and all it's beauty. After reading your hub it brought back sweet memories and all the things I love. There will always be people that find the beach a pain and have nothing good to say. They will never enjoy all the joys we will always see.I give them no notice or attention because they are like a crab stuck in the sand. They try to do everything they can to break free and unfortunately days later you see the same crab shell left cracked with the crab eaten and soon the shell will mix with the sand and return the natural beauty to the beach.Have a great day and thanks for sharing.
