This collection of senryu — similar to haiku, but dealing with an emotion rather than nature — is dedicated to my friend Dave, who pushed me to write beyond limits I wrongly perceived.

much sadness and pain
my good friend challenged me
all gold and silver in the world is nothing — compared to true friendship
helping those different from you —
from a seed that’s nurtured
and cared for
emerges a flower —
out of her cocoon
into the light...
