Haiku Spring

Beautiful snow-covered Cherry tree in blossom.
Beautiful snow-covered Cherry tree in blossom.
Cherry tree branches caressing the ponds bank.
Cherry tree branches caressing the ponds bank.
A pink wonderland !!
A pink wonderland !!
Boulders strewn with Cherry blossoms.
Boulders strewn with Cherry blossoms.
Nature's fury calmed by these beautiful Cherry trees.
Nature's fury calmed by these beautiful Cherry trees.
Like the caress of a butterflies wing, a moment when time stands still and all is well in your world.
Like the caress of a butterflies wing, a moment when time stands still and all is well in your world.

By Larry L. Conners

Cherry tree in snow...

Soundlessly cries with pink tears...

A Bouquet of Spring !!

Cherry blossoms fall...

Ancient pond accepts their kiss...

Trailing limbs embrace.

A riot of color...

The Earth dressed in pink today...

Coming out party !!

Precious air-borne gifts...

Gray boulders in festive mood...

The Color of Spring.

Waterfall crashes...

Cherry trees soften the sounds...

Beauty and the Beast.

Such perfection reigns...

In silent contemplation...

A Gift for the Soul.

These are lovely as are the related pics. I love these trees!

You write much better haiku than I ever did. Yes, it's format and anything can pass but yours have that connected, ephemeral quality that is what makes them valuable.

You can embed the youtube if you add a youtube module and just put that link directly into it.

Great hub :)

Ah, Larry. Consider that if I didn't mince my words in your heartfelt memorial Hub, I am probably not mincing my words now either. Your haiku really are grand. Keiranthapa..Thank you for your astute comment...Yes, it is difficult to conform to the 5-7-5 meter demanded by haiku...still, it is within that confining framework the mind ( and the soul ) must focus intensely, resulting in subtle poetic expressions that would have been hidden from view if written in iambic pentameter or a free-form dialogue...I find the form testing my limits of discipline and imagination...Thank you for stopping by...Larry

Nice, Nice, Nice! Haiku of spring. I can smell the brezee from here. Love it.

Nellieanna...Thank you for stopping by and leaving your most appreciated comments...

I love this form as it appeals to my sense of discipline and simplicity...The 5-7-5 syllabic progression is challenging, yet it opens up another level of concentration that gives one new insights...Larry

Nellieanna profile image

Nellieanna 5 years ago from TEXAS

I can appreciate how that would be so. I so admire it done true to form and still with the poet's touch infused all in it - even without the freedom of actually depicting it in it. That is mind blowing, really. Years ago I read some Zen haiku and was just amazed. I had to get my mind around that utter simplicity and its trimming off all but the essence and formulating it into the haiku mode. Seems much like other rituals of that philosophy - clean, nothing superfluous, and right-on-the-bull's-eye clear. Lovely - simplicity at its most refined.

maven101 profile image

maven101 5 years ago from Northern Arizona Author

Nellieanna...I am in total agreement with your assessment of this poetic form...I've been tempted to expand the syllabic meter but every time I've done so the haiku felt diluted somehow...Like a Trappist Monk, I'll keep it true to form, without any embellishments, just my cell, straw mat, candle, and book...and dear friends, such as yourself, to ponder life, love, and the mysteries of nature...Larry

cat...Thank you so much for the appreciated comments...

The simplicity of haiku translates the complex into a poetic comprehension that opens up insights hidden within...There is always the challenge to keep the haiku free of anthropomorphic simile...It seems so natural to do so...It's a constant battle which feels counter-intuitive, yet the discipline focuses the mind and I'm always surprised how they seem to write themselves...A fascinating dialogue with yourself...Thanks for stopping by...take care, my friend...Larry
