Hands Knowing Nothing More.......

I wached him quietly from the secrecy of
the morning shadows
The stone mason that once was
Now no more
Age crept up on him in silence
first to go were his legs
Bowed like the stone walls themselves
he could carry no more
And then he could no
longer drive
And so his occupation too
And now.....now he only touches the stones
as he wanders by the wall
at the end of his drive
to the mailbox and
back
Then he stops for awhile at the
ditch and reaches down to pick
up a stone somehow lost in
his drive ......And I watch as he palms it
over and over and then
Drops it by the rivers edge
As his wife calls
from the porch
lunch is ready!

Thank you Mamma drama, I was thinking of an old man I once worked for building stone walls. He was about seventy then and lived well into his eighties..Just a little man in stature but an amazing stonemason. And what was his nick name , "Stoney"...:-}

It must be so hard for a person who has created beauty to no longer be able to do so. He must have been remembering and wishing he could use that stone in aanother beautiful creation.

I saw the old man with bowed legs, stop and pick up the stone, look at it and toss it away. Very sad, but he had someone who cooked for him. That's good...... I also saw you in the shadows.....

Age. When our soul still young, sometimes it must be hard to bare to found out that our old body limiting us from what we want to do. I have senior friend, very talented one. She write as easy as she breathe, but even breathe is becoming so hard for her now. In so many times she didn't able to to sleep because her mind was too busy but her body couldn't able to keep it up. Really troublesome.

Very sad, yet reminding us about how short our time in this world. Great job, Dad. Like always. ^^

Fabulous story telling, I could picture him lost in his thoughts as he caressed the stone in his hands.
