Helping Hand ( a poem)

When I was down

you brought me up

with strings attached

to always pull me back.

You boast and gloat

about how you help

only to stab and jab

with conditions and restrictions.

While you sit on your throne,

the world goes by.

Growth and change

movement of process,

all pass unrecognized beneath your judging eyes.

Promises fall by the side

when they are made

with a hollow heart

full of pride.

Taken for granted

that I will always be

there to raise you up

you don’t even see how I can be.

I hope you never

get so down

that you need a helping hand

and someone treats you the way

you have treated me.

I'm so sorry, don't be bitter. Life is good. It will get better. Cheers

Thanks for the comments. They are much appreciated. I especially like the ones that understand that I am trying to capture a moment in time and not expressing how I feel all the time. I write what I feel in the moment.

I know what you mean, I really do not like it when people 'help' then have this attitude like you owe them something for their help. You stated it well, helping with a 'hollow heart.' voted and rated.

I feel if people are going to help, they should do so freely and not hold it over the person they helped.

I agree, when they hold it over your head you know they are not helping freely, it's like they expect you to stroke their ego, constantly.

Yes, it is so annoying. I say take your "help" and get out of here.
