Him and Her (The way they were)

HIM

My love, my love what have I done?

You always said I was the one

So much we shared, two hearts so pure

Like vintage wine we did mature

We walked the path simplicity

Your love I craved necessity

Oh my love what have I done?

You always said I was the one

HER

Fret not for me oh naive man

Those things were true when we began

I am a different creature now

I know not why

I know not how

Fret not for me oh naive man

HIM

Oh my love I feel so cold

Without your love as I grow old

I wear your ring still like a glove

As a ghostly shadow of our love

Now…take my tears and wash your feet

That crushed this heart that strains to beat

My love…my love, I see you leave

Yet still I struggle to believe

No last kiss…there will be none

But …you…always said I was…the one

I think I am one of those people. Thank you also for taking time to read my hubs and especially my poems.

Some people hold onto futile hopes for years, decades even. When love has come to an end, sometimes there are easily identified reasons, sometimes not, but it's never easy and yes, it is cruel.

Thank you for taking time to read my poetry. I have found love to be one of my greatest pleasures, to love and be loved, but it has also been the most painful hurt I have ever felt at times and yes I think cruel is a good word to describe it's pain, especially when no one but the person you love can ease it, but most times they do not.

Beautifully written, but very sad. Love is so cruel sometimes

Thank you. It is rather sad isn't it? Fallen love is always tough for the one left still holding on to a futile hope, and sad to see by anyone.

Morning Sarcasticool.

A beautiful, but san poem.

For me, a poem of fallen love.

Beautiful.
