His Soul Took Flight

The Darkness Consumed The Light

The room would rock and sway,

a whirl of emotions enveloped him,

he willed it to go away,

he insisted, but it persisted,

and the suicidal thoughts became

etched in his mind,

he fell back into his chair,

and a strange voice sounded in his ear,

then it came and brought so much fear,

he thought his pounding heart was about to rupture,

the terror surged,

and frenzied thoughts emerged,

ran rampant,

driving him insane,

and all of it just collided inside his brain,

his calm was there for the taking,

there was no mistaking,

he could feel his entire body shaking,

dampened with perspiration,

he lost all concentration,

his face pale,

common sense would fail,

his reality would fall,

as he pounded his fist against the wall,

then an ominous and unsettling notion

crept into his psyche,

then his body moved with a slight motion,

his ghost cries,

and there was a sadness in God’s eyes,

as the darkness consumed the light,

and his soul took flight.

Rotating from darkness of night into the brightness of sun is earth's compulsion. So it is also our compulsion to travel into light from darkness and then again enter the kingdom of darkness.

You have given your reader a disturbing and thought provoking piece. Your use of imagery and rhythm grab onto the reader, and holds him there, as the pace becomes more frenzied and the reader cannot help but nearly feel your subjects mania themselves, and then lets them go with the sad but comparably gentle image of the soul fleeing from the madness and flying softly away... Great Hub about an uncomfortable subject! Well done! I look forward to reading more hubs by you!

Nice work.

I like the idea that you could put down your thoughs as you were dying. To be able to describe to someone else what your death is would be remarkable.

I was deeply moved by this as I remembered a family member's disturbing last moments of a death from alcohol poisoning. You have a great gift. Voted up.
