His World, His Love

He knew right from the start

when he saw her

in high school

with her red hair

and her blue button eyes

the trembling lips

the unsure look

and the faded jeans

the she was meant for him

and so it was that she opened up

a world so completely different

that it turned his life upside down

she was no beauty

but she had a certain cuteness

and her smile could light up the sky

they became a pair

an odd pair friends would say

when others gathered for pizza

they’d be down by the river

singing favorite songs

feeding the ducks

enjoying life

in her world she even showed him

where she thought Alice

went down the rabbit hole

and he loved her

for being so easy to please

for being there and making him feel

like a king

even though no one could understand

she was his queen at the prom

dressed all in black

because the high school dream

was ending

while they all partied that night

they went dancing in the park

under the lights from the lampposts

music on the stereo

they danced and laughed

it was a magical night

he wondered what the future

held for them

she told him of her dreams

she wanted to become

a model and stun the world

he wasn’t sure what he wanted

and so that summer they just drifted

picnics by the river

walks in the park

dreaming dreams of grander days

but he often wondered if they were the same

he earned some money

down at the gas station

to make her summer days magic

she loved bright colors

and he’d buy her a dozen balloons

which they’d let up into the blue sky

laughing to see them float away

and so the summer was fun

the girl was his

but life’s no fairy tale

and he could tell

that none of his efforts

could hold her if she wished to go

her sights were set for New York City

no matter what he said

the fashion world waited

for someone just like her

he didn’t know what to do

there had never been a girl like her

she was all the wonderful things

he could imagine in life

all rolled up in this delightful girl

and he was in a dilemma

he didn’t know what to do

he’d spent so much time

just making her happy

just loving her

he didn’t think there

could ever be another dream

that could ever shine as bright

by the time the autumn leaves

began to fall

he knew she was ready

to pursue her dreams

and he began to get scared

nothing to hold him at home

but nothing he could think of

to pursue in the big city

the night before she was to leave

he was tortured by nightmares

mingled with the happy dreams

of all the yesterdays

she had made so very bright

dances by the river

strolls in the park

that crazy red hair

shining in the sun

as if it was in flames

her lips reaching for his

her little hand in his

so trusting and believing

a flight of balloons on a summer’s day

he had told her he wouldn’t say good-bye

he couldn’t see her stepping on the train

suddenly he realized that without her

all of his dreams seemed to be ending

misery and loneliness

memories of her only

and he rose with the dawn

he knew he needed her

for now and a lifetime long

and just as the train was ready to pull out

he hopped right in

not sorry to leave it all behind

she was surprised but so delighted

and they waved good-bye

to the town they knew

heading into dreams

that lay ahead of them

knowing that together

it would all be alright

love would make it so

I'm so glad he took the leap and followed the girl of his dreams. Too often it's the woman who leaves her world behind for the man she loves. It's nice to see the tables turned.

Beautiful story, Rasma!

Thank you and lots of love to you sis

Thank you Shauna. I always had a passion for that silly song and finally it inspired and I realized it was quite a nice love song in its own way.

Very beautiful lines, so much appealing to our senses. I am glad that he got into the train to accompany her for ever.

When we are immersed in some story or movie and get identified with the characters, it gives a great relief to see happy ending to them. We feel that we ourselves have suffered all that and now we are happy.
