Writing is one of the skills that differentiates humans from other living things. Drawings in caves by early man also provide the evidence that writing has prevalent since long time.Pen has been in use in human kind before its inception in the form of quills (pen made from a bird's feather) or bamboo sticks (dip pens). In both the cases the nip-like structure is dipped in the ink to write on the paper. But the discovery of pen has brought a historic revolution for human race. In this hub, a pen explained how he has contributed through ages.

Quills are by far the ancestors of the pens. A feather is used for making a quill. Its nip-like structure is dipped in ink before writing.

A sword was a tool used for fighting battles. In a battle, a sword can kill many individuals with few swings but a peace message written by a few stokes of pen can make kingdoms amicable and can save lot of blood shed.

I (Pen) wrote all the historic records especially religious text and scriptures that have been passed from one generation to other since ages.

The culture and the cultural beliefs are jotted down by me in the past and used till date.

Many ancient kings fought many battles and I wrote a peace letter to stop the rampaging wars. This is the reason why people say that a pen is mightier than sword.

There are numerous countries around the globe but, for all countries, I wrote the national anthem that imbibes pride and honor in the countrymen when their country is represented by fellow countrymen at international level.

Zero was invented by Aryabhatta when he was working on place value technique. Later on he added many feathers to his caps by devloping new techniques and formulas in Mathematics.

I was the first one to write a zero invented by Aryabhatta and since then mathematics has evolved leaps and bounds.

Shakespeare used me for penning the timeless beauties such as Macbeth, Othello, Julius Caesar along with very beautiful sonnets.

Many poets and authors who want to be easily recognized by their readers, used an alias name called a Penname.

Pythagoras held me for writing the famous Pythagoras theorem that helped in solving many difficult real-life situations easily.

This is how earth looks from the moon. Moon rotates in its axis around the earth because of the gravitational force of the earth. The value of this gravity was also calulated later on. Earth looks BEAUTIFUL from the moon.

The Law of gravity came into existence when Newton wrote, with the help of pen, this law on the paper. After that humans were able to calculate the distance of Earth from the Sun and Moon.

Darwin wrote his results of Pea experiments on the paper and new branch of science called the Genetics have came into existence.

Wright brothers calculated all the minute details of an aircraft with my help and soon people traveled distant places in aero plane.

A new body and design, called Fountain pen, was given to me by a scientist. Since then I have evolved from a fountain pen to a ballpoint pen to a gel pen, but the charm of using the pen has been ever same for everyone. Traditionally blue and black were the colors I could write with, but nowadays I can write in any color.

Before the invention of the telephone, people use to stay in touch with each other by writing letters and becoming pen pals.

With the use of pens, came the concept of handwriting.

The school kids are the most novice users of the pen. With time they go to different fields in their life but still keep using pen.

Today doctors use me for prescribing medicines and curing all the ailments of their patients. With my help teachers are making the future scholars for their nations and human society. A day is made for a fan, when a celebrity signs an autograph for him.

The most enjoyable moment for me is when I am used by a student, who has just graduated to senior class. Such a student will keep my different varieties in a geometry box. The sense of pride that comes on a student’s face while using me is so innocent. Students boast their seniority while jotting down the notes. And those pen marks and ink spots blotched on their school dress add glory to the gold.

These are the few contributions to mention that I (pen) have made to humankind but more such contributions are yet to come. So keep penning as you never know that you might end up with your name in history.
