Honesty, the Last Frontier

By Tony DeLorger © 2011

Honesty is the binding perception of reality,

the key to knowing life without predetermination and the lies of bias.

Deep within are the walls of truth, each brick a fear, bound by doubt,

and the core, unencumbered by thought, awaits.

Beyond the walls life is clear but with ever-present deception,

the resistance of change and the ignorance of self.

The burden of life weighs heavily on a veiled soul,

always defensive and reticent to explore internal truth.

We can hide behind ourselves for only so long,

and truth has a way of seeking out the fraudulent.

The pain of realisation can be profound,

lies believed as truth for a lifetime.

When we surrender to truth and accept ourselves,

The rawness of pain soon subsides and relief ensues.

Happiness is the result of acceptance,

What is real, faults and all, is no burden in the end.

Understanding prevails because of knowledge,

and a true self has equilibrium and quietness of mind.

Without the love and acceptance for ourselves,

we cannot be true to another.

Honesty, the last frontier.

Great writing, so true and lots of food for thought. The rub lies in the first line:

"Honesty is the binding perception of reality"

It's the perception of reality where the problems sometimes lay and differences begin. But you wrap it up so well near the end:

"Without the love and acceptance for ourselves,

we cannot be true to another."

Thoroughly enjoyed this one, Tony. Great job!
