How I Used My Poems in Cards

Poet In My Own Mind

There is an old joke that goes like this “You’re a poet but you don’t know it. I can tell because your feet are long fellows!” Well over the course of time, I have tried to write poems. None of them were very good, but maybe they were good enough for greeting cards. So that is what I did with them, I made homemade greeting cards. This not only saved me a little bit of money, it added personal sentiments that were truly appreciated by the recipients. Here are a few examples of my own poems that I have incorporated into home made cards.

50th Anniversary Card to my parents

THE LOVE OF A LIFETIME

In the happy times, the proud times,

I am the love that intensifies the ecstasy.

In the challenge of uncertain times,

I am the love that champions you.

In the day to day routine times,

I am your best friend, and the giggle behind your smile.

In the passion of trying times,

I am the love that calms the pain, sorrow, loss.

In the past, present and future times,

I am the love that lasts a lifetime.

Wedding Anniversary Card to my husband

YOU’RE THE ONE

You’re the one who comforts me when I’m ill or sad

You’re the one who listens patiently when I brag

You’re the one who appreciates me, especially my cooking

You’re the one who compliments me no matter how I’m looking

You’re the one who loves a fireplace, snacks and good TV

You’re the one who watches old movies men don’t like to see

You’re the one who was sent to me from Someone up above

You’re the one who is my real forever one true love

Thank You Card to family and friends for surprise birthday party

ON THE ROAD OF LIFE

It’s funny how we travel different ways yet meet in the same place

How some of us speed along and others set a slower pace

Sometimes the road is bumpy, sometimes the road is smooth

Yet even in the worse conditions it helps to have good food

Our bodies range from sporty types to sleek and classic fair

Along the way we’ll need to stop for maintenance or repair

At times the days are beautiful, at times it’s dark and cold

And just when we feel energetic, we learn we’re growing old

But I’m a very lucky one, it’s easy to contend

Accompanied on my journey by loving family and friends

Thank you for sharing my day!

Now if you are a poet and want to publish your verses for greeting cards, search "submit greeting card poems" on google and you will find many publishing companies looking for just what you have to offer. Good luck!

That's cool I've always wondered how card ideas are generated!

Very cool, Frannie. Like the poems, like the fact that the cards are "homemade" with your own personal touch...your own writing. ...Make sure you get a Copyright on these before the big card companies see 'em! (:

Voted UP, U, A, B & I

May peace remain in your heart and soul...always,

Diana

P.S. Thanks for the follow! (:

....the most important thing about writing poetry is be yourself and write from the heart and the mind will always follow - and you have certainly done that here and succeeded brilliantly because of it. So very nice to meet you and thank you for your endorsement of my humble little hubspace and coming from someone special like you - that really means a lot - I love Gerswhin's music too
