Poem: I Am (For Walt Whitman)
I am the Aura of every being
I am you in nakedness unseen
I am hope and I am despair
I am the wild wind in your hair
I am the sins of everyone
I am Mother Nature's son
I am the fruit of the summer vine,
I am the taste of warm winter wine
I am wild flowers
In soft summer showers
I am the seed that grows to weed
I am the rain and I am the pain
I am the eyes and I am the ears
I am known in childhood tears
I am the mouth and I am the nose
I am the sweet, soft scent of summer rose
I am day and I am night
I am shadow and I am light
I am young and I am old
I am a story yet untold
I am living and I am dead
I am your daily bread
I am bitter, I am sweet
I am whole and incomplete
I am sea and I am shore
I am the way, I am the core
I am home and I am away
I am with you every day
I am the brook and I am the tree
I am all there is to be
I am rich and I am poor
I am the beggar at your door
I am the master and the slave
I am deceased and in the grave
I am the leaf of every glade
I am the branches and the shade
I am a diamond, I am a stone
I am flesh, I am bone
I am war and I am peace
I can make all things cease
I am future and I am past
I am the first and I am the last
I am the sunrise and the light
I am the sunset and the night
I am the moon and every star
I am the road that takes you far
I am the whip, I am the chain
I am the blood, I am the stain
I am good and I am kind
I am all that I designed
I am a song and I am a sonnet
I am a ribbon on an Easter bonnet
I am rhythm and I am rhyme
I am the space outside of time
I am tenacious and obscene
I am all that is serene
I am common and banal
I am the green waters of a lily pad Canal
I am the wise and I am the fool
I am the hand and I am the tool
I am... I am... I am!
