Do You Know What I Am?

Do you know what I am?

.....

....

......

I am…

Wandering through this treacherous sea. I am…

An ocean, spanning across the depths of time. I am…

Past, present, and future. I summon waves like black holes. From me…

Abysmal portals form… swallowing all who fear me. I am…

Your failure, hate, and despair…you belong to me. I am…

The nightmare. You dreamt of me once. I am…

From within you. Calling my name in your sleep. I am…

Awake at last. Crushing all who oppose. I am…

Your fears. Keep me here forever. I am…

The enemy of truth. Upon you now. You are…

Hopelessly lost.

Again, wonderful talent. One of the things life has shown me, the eyes always see what they are looking at and what they are looking at, is all that I can see. I have a twenty three year old, who writes much the same. Great talent, but, beauty seems to dwell in the shadows and his flashlight is inadequate. I keep giving him mine, but in using his, I am force to examine his shadows. There is much to see there, but, I prefer the visit to any permanance. As we age, our eyes get bad, we have to get bigger lights. I suspect that he and you will do the same. Then, I fear, the two of you, will illuminate the world.

And you are so talented... even the pattern of the "I am" has a clever and disturbing effect.

Thank you Wayne

This, in my opinion is pretty chilling, and goes deeper than most of my writings.

A very strong verse Ben...the sum of all fears it seems...man's inner most terror. Your poem makes the connection quite well. Thanks for sharing! WB

Neelesh, thank you very much. I hardly feel like my age has ever been a factor in the things that go on in my mind. Its always been chaos in there.

Nellie - I have been asking myself that question for years now. The incredible despair and hatred I have felt at times in my life never really made sense to me. I have come a long way since then, but I still have moments when I write things which would make some people cringe in agony.

Saddle - Ahh! I keep thanking you for all the motivating things you tell me. It really means so much when i hear/read things like that.

I am simply uplifted by your poetry. It borders on the mystery of the Universe, I am not alone in the pool of soulfulness. You will inspire many here with your youthful talent as a creative writer/poet.

Keep them coming young Ben, you are on a roll and I am envious of your talent, I was not a writer at 23 an artist Yes, but not a writer. Keep up the great writes.

From whence come these dire but beautiful images in one so young?
