I Often Talk To Myself

i often talk to myself

and berate

myself

i often talk to myself

and berate the person

who is being so hard

on me

me

i often talk to myself

and sometimes consciously

acknowledge

the good things

I am

and have done

it doesn’t shut

the other me up

but somehow manages

to quieten

and provide balance

i often talk to myself

and keep myself

company

i sometimes listen to myself

when i create a space

to hear

i often laugh at myself

it’s a good laugh

Introspection is food for the soul...and self-forgiveness will start the healing...As a poet, you can use these moments of reflection for yourself, or share with your friends...Thanks for sharing...Larry

Just don't start answering yourself...lol

There's nothing wrong with talking to yourself, Russ :) Just don't ask yourself a question and then answer it. If you do, I'll have to send you some milk, because you've gone cuckoo for cocoa-puffs!

Whoops! Just notice Larry's advice! The milk will be here shortly :D

Hi Elisabeth, thank you, I think most people do this but just aren't aware of it.

Russ, I often talk to myself to so you're not alone! THis was a very eloquent hub and it's nice to know there are others like me. Great job expressing this very common habit that many of us do more than we realize. Quite courageous of you to share this.. Excellent hub!

Enjoyed this. Talking to oneself is indeed like finding balance or keeping a foot on the ground. Thanks for sharing Russ :D

ha ha so true Russ, before we know it, we've gone through our whole life as if it's a long term debate with the self. Your light hearted humour gives this very human affliction a refreshing spin. I, on the other hand, tends to get a bit too serious and heavy handed. It takes a self observant Haiku poet to give it space....and just breathe. xo

Thanks Violet, give it space, breathe, and laugh at it. There are many kinds of laughter. Risking a laugh at one's deep emotions releases a coping energy. Thank you for your comments. Russ x
