Tied To the Mast Again......

The piercing whistle blast calling all
hands to the masthead
I joined them there too..... with the others
the beginning of a day I'll dread

Seems I'd been caught in the night
drinking rum from in the stores
Under orders to conserve our spirits
waiting to be blown ashores

The rules of the sea lost sailor
not to be taken lightly
Twas' my job to make safe the drink
keep a guard as nightly

The temptation though t'was something
being so missleading
Waiting for dawn to come .....for the captain
to take his reading

Forty lashes it will be .........on my back
forty more when landed
It's more than I can stand today
he's awful evil handed

And so the burning lashes have begun
captain gives it all he's got
He thinks  I'm not  taking the
rum again.......when the lashes are forgot

I've got news for the captain though
I've got hidden down below
Enough rum for the doldrums untill
the trade winds do blow

Unfortunately, it is winter all over again, but it isn't suppose to last very long. Another Case of The Monday Morning Cramps here, as frenzied as any Monday can be... I long for those days seen in your picture,

Have a good one,

MM
