The Trial of the Knight

At the ends of his war the knight kneels before
his king and queen and begs for understanding

For all the years that he rode for her
and his king .....now this repremanding

Without thinking ....his coats slide away
to reveal that he is only a man
A steady hold upon his sword though
he may need it just to stand

His flesh is not made of iron and he too
wears the scars beneath the cloak
The queen gasps openly when she sees
the healing angle of bones once broke

The courts waits as the king prepares to deal
the blow or to lay the sword again
Once upon each shoulder ......
Or to exile for his friend

The knights heart is hers though.........it always
has been ....not openly known
But let it be said though... his loyalties show
......his secret isn't blown

In another life he would lie down his love
gladly.....and let the kings be damned
But for this knights tarnished love
to never leave his hand

Secretly he loves her though ...more love than kings
can ever show in the open
But always ....... she has the final say
his future is just one of her tokens

Let it be said that the knight was just a boy inside
and the queen .....just a young girls dreams
The kings and all the court can't understand
the knight has a problem it seems

Noble hearts forever invisible .......hidden
within the suit of armor for a time
A knight ...his king...and queen.......
All for his service......strong hearts we find

The knight.............the soldier
The King................his country
And the queen.......his patriotism

This is an equisite understanding of altruism -- something which used to be part of our cultural imperative, and replaced now by those trying to sell 'goodness' within themselves to the highest bidder.

Sciber , so true , too much of my time is spent in anylizing meanings both open and hidden. But it is interesting to break it down. Thanks.
