I am

By Tony DeLorger © 2011

I am open

too much for life.

I am riddled

with the pain of indifference.

Battered by the whim of chance,

I reside between decision and denial.

I am ready

to face my demons,

to relinquish hold on sanity

and embrace free thought.

I am beaten before I begin,

aligned to my limits of understanding

and my refusal to let go.

I am stubborn,

unrelenting in my humanity

and irreverent in my existence.

Shallow is my life

but deep are my thoughts,

guided by a soul who knows

the trickery of reality.

I am gone

yet here to administer my will,

words on a page, truth the simplicity of ink.

I am nowhere yet everywhere,

dead yet alive,

infinity on the head of a pin.

Thank you for your perception, glad you enjoyed it, Mike.

Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment.

This poem, to me, is the proclamation of that defiant determined individualist, who refuses to remain unheard in the sea of conformity, called Humanity.

The expressiveness of contradictions and descriptive use of personal perceptions challenge the reader to really read, assess and reply from their own point of view, Tony!

This is very rich in its symbolism and quite profound in your particular artistic impression. I found it to be challenging, refreshing and entertaining. Voted it UP!

Regards Mike (Aka Professor M!)

Tony, I related to this piece, felt the emotion and conflict as I read...your poetry is deep and touches deeply...."guided by a soul who knows the trickery of reality." Thank you.
