I dream of Spring

Prayer for Spring

ALL is white and quiet now
and in the silence I pray somehow
that soon I hear the songbirds sing
in the cold of winter I dream of spring

In bitter cold my fingers numb
still I dream of spring to come
breathing in the air that stings
hoping for an early spring

Silver ice and frost the scene
beautiful but still I dream
of thawing waters in rushing streams
bring forth the color green

Crisp blowing wind seems so bold
crystal water and snow I know do hold
the coming thaw with life it brings
the season hoped for which is spring

In the harshness of winter I dream of spring
fields of flowers and songbirds sing
thoughts and prayers they take me far away
to a gentler time and a better day

Spring will be a welcome break from this winter and the cold and snow.Keep thinking of the beach.

New York has certainly had its share of cold and snow this winter! Here in Houston we recently survived an ice storm that just about closed down the city. No air transportation in or out; no metro; schools and many businesses closed. I'll be happy when I can quit taking the old sheets in and out...covering our more tender outside plants...and wash them up putting them away until next winter.

Lovely poem! Rated up and beautiful.

I have seen the news story about the Texas snow storms.I guess the majority of the USA has had it share of winter this year.

Hi Glowing, now i'm glowing from your lovely words. I have read a few winter poems and none are ever remotely alike. That's the magic of creative writing and you created plenty here.

Nice poem for this time of year. I wondered if there is a deeper hidden "Spring" implied by this poem. I am very tired of winter and glad it is gone for now! I will bookmark this poem because I will need it next winter.
