I will remain lost at sea ...........

I stand willingly at watch on the edge
of the Salton shore
Watching as the following sea and
whitecaps run to the horizon and more

Take me with you I beg I'd let her do
just as she pleases
The lady this ocean expects nothing from me
yet her rolling tempo teases

Yet suspect is this love on high at least
might own my very soul
And thats just fine with me she may
leave me in the depths of cold

But I....... I go willingly in her follow
and beg ....I'll beg for even more
Until she tosses me aside somewhere far
far on distant ashore

Or turn me adrift with the big blue
whales near the end of thier own time
Yet my love the sea .....just don't leave me here
with that we leave behind

I will love you till I can swim
no more .....do then as you will
But know that I swam touching you my lover
and swim forever still

God ...I love the ocean !

This is really quality poetry, and you have the romantic mindset and soul necessary to make the words and rhythm work in the very best way. Alas, I am not talented in this area, but I can appreciate it in others.

Such beautiful use of words and you used them so well, I could really feel the love you have for the sea when I read this.

Your poetic voice has me in awe on this inspirational poem. I can feel it though to the heart. Voted up!

Voted up and beautiful. You and me both Ed. In love with the ocean. I've always thought there was something so dramatically romantic in crashing waves. Passing this on.

Roll on, ocean! I love those rolling waves and the wide space, whether it is calm and placid and great for a swim or sail, or a raging storm that blows all the cobwebs away. Lovely poem, I could just about smell it.

And..it SHOWS!

Speaking for myself - the ocean intimidates the shit out of me - i respect it, er - deeply - excuse pun..lol..

i prefer to watch it from the safety of shore, and yet - i've been on 4 - yes FOUR week long cruises..(and, of course - i DO get seasick, which makes it all that much more fun..lol)..

I hope your loved ones know you want to be buried at sea?

love ya cowboy - ya know i do!

voting up and sharing foward..

Me, too, Leslie, especially frightening are the Atlantic and the Gulf. Plumb scary to a landlubber like I am. I like my huge spaces less liquid, though I love water; just not in such powerful, slashing quantities. :-)

Ed, your love of it is really palatable and beautiful. This poem is so lovely. I never tire of your poetry! You're a stirring volcano!

Leslie , you cruiser you ! It is so intimidating !, probably why I love the power of nature so much ! Somehow I picture you in high heels ,dancing with the captain while the sea watches in jealousy!/.......Big hug for ya!

I wouldn't stand too near if I heard underground rumblings, Ed! :-)

Ah - but the Hill Country is lush & verdant compared to my West-of-the-Pecos -Just-Shy-of-the-Bend & not far from the Rio Grande country, Ed.

We're talking cactus, rocks, canyons, purple sage, mountain lions, rattlesnakes, & what doesn't have thorns has sharp teeth & claws! The wind nearly never ceases & the rain amost never starts. The sun is close (highish elevation) & will toast your brain quickly if you don't respect it with a hat. The cold will freeze your tush if you're not bundled up. But nowhere are the stars more incredible in their sea of black velvet with no ground light pollution! No where do your eyes feast on great mountains in Mexico hundreds of miles away, blue or purple with their moods. Yes, I do love it. It's not just my roots but it almost literally birthed me. For sure it's where I was conceived!! :-)

Quite moving and beautiful. I love the ocean, but have only been privileged to live near it briefly. Between the ages of 10 and 12 I lived in a small town near Athens Greece. The walk from the house where we lived down to the rocks and waves of the Aegean Sea was about twenty minutes. I still remember the water changing colors -- light green, dark green, aquamarine, till at last a deep purple/blue. Thank you for encouraging a lovely memory.

I hope you and your family have a lovely and blessed Easter. Theresa
