Ideal Nation: A Poem

Imagine a world where love abounds,

Where people dance to radiant sounds,

Amidst fluttering snow or scattered rain,

The joy overlaps some quiet pain,

Truth will break deceitful silence,

Justice beats a steady cadence,

Connecting hands form bonds of might,

The smiles reflect more then delight,

Arms embrace with reckless devotion,

Here, virtuous living is more then a notion.

Look like a dreamy land far apart, where we have the privilege only to observe.

Maybe you like the world here

That's a very good description of the imaginary place I had in mind. Thanks for sharing; I'll have to check it out!

Peace and wisdom is all we would see

And in the end, happy we would be

These are very true words, Phil. I think you might have ended my poem better then I did! ;)

Would that it could be so ...

Nice sentiments very nicely worded. Voted up.

Thanks, CM Sullivan! I'm very flattered by your kind words. Sometimes I put a lot of thought into my poems, while other times they just flow out of me like a river. I think this time was the latter. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Have a great night!

The general allusions of the poem remind me of the Sermon on the Mount, in Matthew's Gospel. For people on earth today, such truths are manifested, rather than in the actions of unbelieving politicians, in the lives of believers.

Blessings.

Good point; I wouldn't have thought to relate it to that portion of the Bible.
