I'm Free: A Poem

Source

I am hurting, I am yearning,

For the life You've set before me,

I am looking, back behind me,

To the past that's let me go.

You are seeking, for my fingers,

A hand that's turned so selfishly,

From the heavens You belong to,

To this fragile world that will fade away.

Help me, God, to focus on You,

The One that's wholly set me free,

Instead of these heavy chains that bind me,

Chains that refuse to let me be.

hello EBower, Are you hiding in my closet? You have been writing exactly what I have been feeling lately, and it seems you have brought a smile on my face and a tear in my eye. I haven't had a whole lot of time to write on hubs lately because I have been busy adjusting to my new lifestyle(separated from my husband). All I can say is Thank You For sharing your words with me because I truly find myself accepting the healing I am receiving when I read your hubs. I need Jesus more than ever. :) Christina

Yes, those chains can be heavy and quite the burden. Nice poem.

CMCastro, I am so glad I could encourage you during this rough time. I pray that Jesus will comfort you with His presence; we all need Him. You have been a blessing to me just by sharing that I have helped you in some small way. I hope you have a beautiful night! :)

Phil: Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. :)

I just noticed the chain leitmotif again; it occurs twice. I think, including from your comments elsewhere, it must definitely in the metaphorical sense of, for example, the way sin binds a person and hinders reconciliation with the Creator. Blessings.

Re. the line: 'this fragile world that will fade away.'

So true!

So it's far, far better to concentrate by God's grace on what's enduring and eternal, right? :)

Blessings.

Yes, everything's temporary except for His kingdom.
