Implicitly, I gave value to my paradigm so heartfelt,
and exposed my true will by delusions I've now dealt,
in the cause of some understanding, some resolution of doubt,
so that you comprehend all my thinking so svelte,
streamlined to address all the problems I've endured,
bad choices and decisions and the baggage procured,
in truth I must confess all this negative content,
going into a relationship it's my duty to vent,
you see I've been bashed from pillar to post,
maintaining a smile when I needed it most,
but bruises can last and scars change this shell,
my viewpoint a little tainted, some say cynical as hell,
but I assure you the love in my heart is still true,
and it must depend on what of your baggage ensues,
for although I've worn trenches in the block I've been on,
I've managed to still believe in loves healing and song,
so if you dare to consider a fellow such as I,
I promise to be attentive and embrace compromise,
I'm on time, truthful, loyal and loving,
but don't ask me where my glasses are, or what the day is bringing,
I'm clean and take care of myself on an every daily basis,
but remembering anniversaries or birthdays, I'm on hiatus,
I work out, eat well and retain my own teeth,
I'm relatively sane, at least that's my belief,
so in closing I'll just say that some parts are now worn out,
but most of me's working and you don't have to shout,
just rest assured in the wisdom that an old guy like me,
can bring to the table for a nice cup of tea.
When you've been around the block a few times, you get to know it pretty well.
