Implosion - A Poem
It hits you like a brick bat
Out of nowhere
You don’t see it coming
You don’t hear a sound
But when it hits
It hits hard
It takes your breath away
It knocks you to your knees
It shakes the very foundation of your world
You feel lost, alone, afraid, unsure, confused. . .
You mull things over and over in your mind,
over and over, and over and over. . . .
Asking questions that have no answers
Waiting for answers that never come
Standing in the smoldering rubble of what once was
You recognize nothing, everything is gone
Wandering in darkness and confusion
Looking for some kind of escape, some way out
Out of the pain, out of the strain, away from this doom
And back to what you know as normal
But all you find is the heaviness in your chest
And the knowledge that it’s happened. . .
Of your life
