In Choice...a poem
By Tony DeLorger © 2012
In choice we find the road untrodden,
with all its potential, danger and reward,
and in choosing, the lessons of life,
like fruit upon a tree, are offered for the courageous.
In choice do we find solace or blame,
for all that ensues by our own hand,
the harshness of mistakes and the smoothness of right,
all played out in exquisite detail on the stage of life.
In choice do we suffer our greatest pain,
our most uplifting victories,
and our most bewildering enigmas,
all the product and process of a growing mind.
In choice do we love with all the people who grace our lives,
they too by choice having found us,
each on a pathway that strangely intersects,
each connection with its challenges and rewards.
In choice do we live the life placed before us,
our acceptance and appreciation of it ours alone,
whether poverty or wealth, illness or health,
happiness is ours to embrace.
In choice do we exist,
and what we do with this gift is up to us,
to love, to hate, to acknowledge or live in denial,
in choice do we begin to understand.
