In Consideration of Money

Who was it

that said evil comes from money?

Did they mean

all good comes from the poor?

On the eve of great things

one considers one's self,

"Am I good

because I haven't the money to choose

or am I good at heart?"

Amongst my acquaintance

some be nasty.

Often times i wonder

if their problem springs

from a lack of hope.

Yet if they have no hope without it

having it won't fix anything.

What I would really do

if need exited my life.

An interesting quandary

for interesting times.

Amongst those who can

it would seem

that the way they be

more them at their core

then me and you.

Perhaps if you and I

can face this demon well without

if one day

we may get the chance to test our will

finding out

if we are good because we are good

or because the evil

that we truly desire

cannot be found

at the price we can pay

for we have no desire

for the evil we can afford.

Beautiful and thought provoking poem.I voted up.

As matter of fact, Money isn't the root of all evil at all. Though the emotions it brings out in people that are "evil". Money is nothing more than a tool. A great tool at that, though nothing more than a tool. I doubt the purpose of money has been bad though, just the people who learned they can use it as a "weapon", device.

Thank you for this. It is truly possible to live beyond it.

Beautiful line: "Am I good because I haven't the money to choose"...

I'm good - but I'd love to have a LOT of money.

James -- I am glad you enjoyed this work. I feel that anything you can use for creative and elevating purposes you can use for destructive purposes. Without such capacity there would not be any real choice.

Dailytop10 -- you are very welcome and much appreciated for stopping by.

Mhatter99 -- true, i feel that one has to grapple with its reality before living beyond it doesn't amount to cowardice in my book. To each their own though.

Moesky -- I am not sure that being good is a completely quantifiable thing unless you have every opportunity to be anything else presented you and still able to turn such malignant offers down. I wish you all the money in the world. I would then pray that you staid strong enough to remain pure.
