In Granite Garden | Warrior Haiku

In Granite Garden

The Cost of Freedom is Priced

Honor the Payment

In Granite Garden

Freedoms Dreams are Shared for All

Lost Dreams Swirl Like Snow

In Granite Garden

Politics of Red and Blue

Silent Noise Under White Snow

In Granite Garden

The epitaphs all different yet the same

Name, Rank, War, Religion and Dates

In Granite Garden

My brothers call softly in the flakes

“America You were worth it”

In Granite Garden

Winter Jasmine fills the air

Smell the Gold of Sacrifice

In Granite Garden

The Cost of Freedom Lies calling

Honor the Payment

Hmrjmr1, This is a compelling piece! I am the proud Army mom of two vets and have a passionate appreciation for all who sacrifice for my freedom, most especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Well done!

Big John - I'd never thought of these as granite gardens. I really liked your poem.

Gus - Thanks for stopping by, in the Shinto and Bushido traditions the rocks included in the garden are selected and placed with great care to allow for contemplation of different textures and the wonder of creation. Couldn't help but see it the same way here. God Bless and Thanks for stopping by. :-)

MT - I will be working at the VA Hospital on Thanksgiving, so I will be serving my brothers and friends in the Nursing Home, Hospice and Alzheimer wards, given my personal circumstances I will be with my family and friends. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a very happy Thanksgiving with all those you hold dear.
