In Honour, to be Selfless

By Tony DeLorger © 2012

Giving of yourself,

far exceeds the rewards of self-preservation,

rather, it enlivens the joy of being,

sharing a moment, the experience of selflessness.

Why does humanity persist in self-gratification,

when life is blissful threefold in a state of sharing,

opening a heart for the sake of love,

and not for any fulfilment or gain, an epiphany.

How blind we are to the power of life,

instead overwhelmed by the fear of loss,

the paranoia of being bettered,

beaten or shown inadequate.

We see life through tinted glasses,

through the filters of gain and equity,

rather than what we could give to life,

to exalt our collective experience.

Our selfish narrow-mindedness can only create contention,

breed competition and the cycle of greed,

rather than the harmony in which the natural world exists,

within a balance that is both perfection of purpose,

and without the intentions of will, right.

A smile, a gesture and the surrender of ego in service,

creates a balance of thought,

that is both rewarded and experienced in the heart,

moments where love’s seed begins to be nurtured.

That's great writing, so deep I almost felt as if it's written for me.

Just get rid of the EGO. It's hard to do. I saw a show on PBS by Wayne Dyer. He referenced EGO as an acronym for Edged God Out. We need to keep ourselves off the throne. The need to be worshiped. Only when we give of the spirit can we know real joy.

Good article...Happy Easter. AD
