In The Daylight

Things pass, sometimes never to return.

He is lost.

In daylight hours where shadows are not cast

except for the closing shadows from the sun

our lives pass over the landscape and our thoughts

gently float away on the breeze

to disappear over the horizon

Do we not remember those people

to whom we owe grace and love

and yet shiver from memories

that have been suddenly so cruelly

thrust into the corners of our minds.

The pond of life that ripples with the wind

should never harm the lily pond

that breathes life into empty water

where the depths within stand with empty dreams

of wondrous frogs looking for a Princess

Nor shall the bough of that yonder tree

escape the wisdom of the bird that takes refuge within

knowingly caressing his feathered wings

in total abandonment of his fears

and expectations unwittingly floating away

The sands of life once golden and fresh

roll with the surf to ebb and flow

least we never forget that child within

that innocence once walked side by side

and looked unwittingly upon this earth

What is left after the dust of the storm settles

Is a realisation that life is volatile, nothing is guaranteed

nor should it be taken for granted

Don’t walk away my friend, don’t turn the other cheek

An oasis in the desert can be the home of dreams

Hi Eddy, thank you for the lovely review my friend. It seems at the moment that my best writing is triggered by sadness and the recalling of memories. I am so grateful to lovely friends like you. xx

Voted up and all across but funny! Wow, this was beautiful Thebluestar. This really made me think. I think of how I am today and I have a lot of people to think for that. We get caught up in life and sometimes we don't think about the ones that have helped us along the way. I really love the message behind this. We all owe someone a thank you and more.

Net,

I know I am backwards in my reading and have been given a heads up... in knowing you as a dear Sista.

I honestly and objectively find this poem to have a subtle and sweet beauty that today's poem does not. I am not sure we always need to 'bleed on the paper' to get a point across. I find your writing has a tremendous range. You can communicate the most intimate of feelings on a variety of levels in the most effective manner at the time.

My wish for you is to continue developing your self-confidence. You have so much to be proud of with your creative endeavors, at least in my humble opinion.

Voted UP & Awesome & Beautiful. Much love, Maria

Annette - Beautiful and sad at the same time. Life is what it is and at the same time what we make of it.

Well done.

Thought provoking, beautifully written, from the heart, this is wonderfully sad and yet so lovely. Sweet phrase "wisdom of the bird..." And the photo was gorgeous.
