In Truth Forsaken
In Truth Forsaken
By Tony DeLorger © 2013
Of late, I have in truth forsaken,
the choices and paths that I have taken,
and in regret know I've let me down,
chosen my will over truth profound,
in chasing shadows that once had meaning,
at end revealing outcome demeaning.
For I am a man, a human pariah,
stubborn, wilful with pants of fire,
fooling myself with disarming lies,
to rid the circumstances that I despise,
in fear have I just chosen shadows,
to remove myself from metaphorical gallows.
At the hands of conniving and hurtful souls,
intent on gain and superficial goals,
who without conscience squash the likes of me,
and end my dreams and right to see,
by persecution, pain, power and money,
remove my voice, my land of honey.
No longer will I stand removed,
from the choices I make and the paths I choose,
instead demand my right to be,
just how I envision my life for me,
and use mind and body to resist the flow,
of narrow-minded heartless foe.
Then with all I have to give,
redesign my world and begin to live,
regardless of those ignorant fools,
my thought to overcome their ruse,
and with good intent and a loving heart,
quash those plans of sin impart.
For in the end my fears are blunt,
and distance only a delusion front,
and life goes on with or without my part,
it is I who lose when in darkness start,
so now I'll stand for what is me,
and what I want will simply be.
No matter what life puts in front of you, be true to yourself. Self-denial holds you back from your dreams and destiny.
