In the Absence

In the Absence

By Tony DeLorger © 2011

In the absence of proof,

my faith earns its life,

precluding denial,

my doubting is rife.

For I grasp what belief

I can from my conscience,

faith cannot feed me

when reality nonsense.

In the absence of thought,

I respond with a knee-jerk,

my conditioning sound,

my instincts on high alert.

For I fall to indemnity,

to cover both sides,

my faith and conditioning,

in life I’ll survive.

My humanity saved,

my absence imbued,

with my hopes and my wishes,

in life I pursue.

I grasp for the questions,

that life can’t disclose,

and wallow in doubt,

until truth I suppose.

In the absence of truth,

in knowledge I imbibe,

for delusion I choose,

in life to survive.
