Her breath in darkness ..............a poem

what's not to love about warm
summer nights and
this cool breeze that lays welcoming
on heaving breast's
two bodies entangled with ecstasy
a young man who's
a new opinion of darkness

we fall apart finally in exhaustion and dream
dreams that make no sense
in a gown of lace and billowing cloud gathering
around you
and then around us we make love again
and again

In the earliest morning hours when
the stars are brightest
then in the warm inviting liquid
of pure heaven you awaken
laying a soft and long thigh across
my own

and yet is there anything as heavenly as
an older mature love
where all of the dreams and fantasies of youth
have been replaced by one touch
of your hand on mine
in the soft breath of darkness?

And when morning awakens from dark
slumber we find ourselves
or where we dreamt at least
in an image washing away on sand
two sets of tracks
one set of tracks my own and close
by those
are yours

dedicated to my wife ........ Susan

This wonderful piece brought me to reflect on the difference between happiness and Joy. It also lead me to give a prayer of thanks for my wife. Thank you.
