I once was offered

A choice between

Falling and flying

Neither of which

Sounded inviting

So I walked

Along the edge

Of rationality

Just one step

From the ledge

And one leap

From the clouds

Living without

Blood soaked wings

Free of the burden

Of disintegrating halos

Refusing to slip

Into hypocrisy

Avoiding transitions

From the heights

To the depths

Indecision keeps me

Here on this cliff

Inches from death

And moments

From soaring

Into bliss

But allow me

To say

That I’m dreading

The day

When originality

Becomes stale

When our greatest

Achievements and hopes

Persistently fail

When animals

Become leaders

And men only follow

When the earth

Is engulfed

In unending sorrow

But for today

For the time being

I’m watching

And feeling

The happening

Which will end

The confusion

And result

In decision

This is among my favorites, Ben. You capture so much feeling, thought, and wisdom in it. I feel your senses in it as they move almost randomly among, up, down and accross hope and distress, courage and near apathy, - but then, never give up or let go of these deep strengths which define YOU. Thank you, m'dear.

I've been very preoccupied with houseguests, taxes and I-don't-know-what-all, and had not realized you've been writing so many wondrous things. I haven't even been trying to look at the announced new hubs because I've just have been unable to do all I need to be doing. (And as you might have noticed, I seldom do any of it half-heartedly.)

I am so pleased that I found you're writing!!! I'd be so deprived otherwise!

cool read...but as i always say, people are animals, so the animals are already leading. i am quite indecisive myself. but i would love to fly.

Entrancing! Mesmerizing! Your style is incredible. Love the play on words with "in decision." You are a master of paradox. Well done!

Wow, I really wish I had time to respond to each of these comments individually...they mean the world to me. The feedback from everyone is the one thing that keeps me writing, and keeps my head up lately in my struggles. All I can say is, all of you that read and comment my work continue to have a powerful impact on my life, and I can't thank you enough...

I really hope that you will continue to read my work, regardless of how much time I am able to spend on here. Coming home from a 12 hour shift and seeing 10 new comments makes my night, every time. Thank you all so much!!

Some things are worth the wait. Even with your busy new schedule, leaving us without as many of your masterpieces to read, in the end you didin't disappoint.

"That I’m dreading

I can't see this ever happening to you with your talent and imagination!

Confusion,at least, comes from inability to interpret complex, often times, false judgements along with the hidden but simple truth that one also himself must make judgement.;)

I hate you, Ben. I take ages to write something, and you whack something like this out in a week... I know it's a week, but you do this too often.

I hate you. Ben.

Ben, I know that feeling :\ You did an amazing job and the image created was amazing! "Inches from death and moments from soaring." I love that feeling, not know and also knowing that for that one split second the feeling will be amazing-but you know in the long run you may not like the result, or you know it will be painful. Good job!!! :)
