Innocence – The Vampire

Innocence – The Vampire

I awoke at dusk…

Craving.

The hunger so strong

for whom I have

waited so long.

~

For this one mortal man,

a lion among the sheep.

Smiling, I know I look meek.

Innocence personified,

big green eyes and a sweet smile...

to beguile.

He who thinks to play,

to protect the poor little girl.

~

Softly, I giggle aloud

thinking of he who is proud,

of his proffered protection,

his quasi disguised affection,

his manly demeanor ,

of a knight on a white horse.

~

What a surprise lover,

no damsel here.

It is I you should fear.

All will become clear.

~

Flying through the night

miles blur in my sight

to another land

~

where I will take your hand

and sweetly pout

giving innocence clout.

~

I find you through your thoughts.

So long have I listened to your musings

your longing confusion

your wish to be but illusion

while you thought it was I you guarded.

~

Tonight I finish what you started.

You drop the wine

before I dine…

Startled

~

“How did you get in lover?”

“The door was open.”

“I need you tonight.”

“What’s wrong dear? Are you afraid?”

~

Stroking my long hair so gently you whisper

“You’re safe dear. Nothing will harm you in my arms.”

As I gaze into your languid green eyes my lip trembles.

You think I am so fragile.

Exactly the kind of girl you were after,

innocent and sweet,

oh, so very meek.

~

Pulling me close you hold me tight in your arms

as I softly kiss your neck.

Smelling the warrior blood in your veins,

elongating my fangs,

swift as light I pierce your skin

Instantly drunk on the strong wine that flows.

~

As your strength quickly goes

you gasp “Why?”

Into your heart I send

that which to my will bends

“You are to be forever mine.”

~

“You came to me willingly.”

“You wanted to play.”

“You wanted to save me

and now you shall.”

~

As the last of your blood

flows through me, I cut my breast

holding your head to me.

Weak like a baby lion you drink.

With each pull your heart throbs.

~

I pick you up in my arms

carrying you…

to your destiny.

Oh, this was an amazing read. You've kept me in suspence. I read my own story in this, meaning this poem is a big success. It is a mirror for the reader and his emotions/memories/thoughts, and NOT a display of the poet's emotions/thoughts. Well done, poetvix!

Shalini Kagal - Thank you for visiting especially so early in the morning... or should I say so late as many of us must retire before the biting rays of dawn approach. Your words have made me smile and for that too I thank you.

I cannot imagine having this conversation with myself: "Another vampire story is just what we all needed. It never gets old..."

inkwell780 6 years ago

Well... Ahem... "blood is the rose of mysterious union" I guess. A creepy read to be sure... Not that I am surprised =;). "flying through the night, miles blur before my sight" Great imagery! I like dark girls and I have to say you are as dark as they come. You are my Muse of course. Are you aware of the Bacchai? Just wondering... A vexing write Muse! You scare me but only make me want more. Matt. =;)

Inky, you are kind as always. Thank you so much for your ongoing support.

Yes, I know of the Bacchai. As you are aware, I love the classical Greek lit. and mythology... I find the story of Bachus (sp) himself highly interesting on many levels.

I sense deep thoughts upon your mind and heart and what it tells me is that once you feel love upon your vains, its forever if the other part knows how to keep you !!!

In this one i see that you are awhare of what surrounds you and it is not you who is the prey, even if you are so gentle, you are wordy of the challenge, wordy of our full attention !!!

I simply loved it dear friend !!!

As always take care !!!

Bunnypoeta - Thank you so very much for your kind words. You have made me smile in the real and that is no small task. Please, do not think me "wordy" of full attention as then I will get embarrased!

Thank you for taking the time to visit and please be good to yourself.

I'm trying to get caught up on my reading, and I'm sure glad I read this on my lunch break, not before bed. It is unnerving, yet hauntingly compelling. It holds great imagery; as always. Another disturbing, enjoyable read!

Tom ~ Thanks bunches for the read and the comment. This is so old! It's one of my earlier hubs and oh, boy how it shows. I would like to go back and finish the story sometime though. I love the vampire genre but I'm a horror fan in general. Have an awesome day and God bless.
