Inside my eyelids..Poetry

Source

What a wonderful way to chase away the dreaded wintertime blues

Inside my eyelids stored visions are kept safely hidden away

Sometimes probing eyes attempt to enter my private sanctuary

I quickly blink rapidly, causing a wispy flyaway

The stored visions are memories of happiness, sadness and sorrow but mostly fun filled hours on sandy beaches on a sunlit tropical shore

Sunbathing, walking hand-in-hand on white glistening sand

Now who could possibly ask for anything more?

Days and nights dancing to the beat of ragga music, enjoying the unique culture on Montego Bay

Oh how I love to look back and feel the fun, surfing and watching the beautiful swans

As they dance and gracefully sway

When the days turn cold and I want to revisit my stored memories, I close my eyelids and see happy times whenever I choose

What a magnificent way

To chase away the dreaded wintertime blues.

Ruby, I just read your comment on my hub that said you had no inspiration to write, and you come up with this! Great poem "Inside My Eyelids" what a perfect subject and title.. I too love to look inside my eyelids for the memories stored there. Love the Rod Stewart version of Dock of the Bay too.....I was expecting "Montego Bay" or maybe that's not the title of the song but I know Jimmy Buffett sings it. Anyway, good to see you overcome the writer's block...well done and voted up.

Ha Jodah, I just posted my comment on your hub when the urge hit me to write again. It's so funny how that happens. I guess it's because it has rained all day and I hate drab rainy days, so I cheered myself up by writing a fun hub about the time I visited Jamaica. So happy you liked it. Thank you so much..

Oh, Ruby, I love this ... how creative of a title and poem you have come up with here this day. Yes, inside those eyelids are many beautiful things to remember indeed, especially when we are having a drab day!

Thank you for taking us away with you back to your fun-filled days in Jamaica! I truly enjoyed it. Wonderful in every way!

Up ++++ tweeting, pinning, G+ and sharing

Blessings always

Hahaha ...yes, that sounds like a hoot as we say here in the South. When you mentioned dancing to reggae music. My husband back then was in the Airforce and stationed in Tampa/ St. Petersburg, Florida area. My best friend loved reggae music. we had a great time too. I was only 19 then.

Hi Ruby. Very touching words. Inspired with every bit of it. We often visualise our past with our opened or closed eyes, but its truly fascinating to know that inside your eyelids is a storage of the memories, that lets you go to your past whenever you want to, impressive. Thanks for sharing.

Ruby, who could possible ask for anything more indeed. Memories are the treasures that keeps on giving. I love the idea of simply closing your eyes to be transported back in time. Beautifully done.

Hey Lesley, let's go!

Down to Mexico

Where the sun shines all the time

We'll have a blast, for nickles and a dime

I'll send my pilot to pick you up

Or would you rather go in my pickup truck?

Hugs....

I love the title, and every word that follows. Calling forth memories, visions and imagery; this is a talent in and of itself – let alone being able to write about it in such a beautifully poetic way. You are gifted, my friend. Voted up and shared.

Voted up and beautiful. This was wonderful and dreamy. Love the pictures and music. We have a popular Latvian pop song in which the words tell you to not let go of luck, just keep your eyes closed and keep on dreaming. Passing this on.

Voted up, awesome, and interesting. Who doesn't like to dream of warm places in the winter? Snow on the ground surely makes us think of beaches and you've written it so beautifully.

I do appreciate the lovely thoughts you get, Ruby, when you look inside your eyelids. You do have a poetic soul and your descriptions are most graphic.

I tried that technique one time, closed my eyes, and the result was less than pleasant. Why? Because I forgot that I was driving my car in rush hour traffic!

always exploring profile image

always exploring 2 years ago from Southern Illinois Author

drbj, you still crack me up with your comments. Rush hour traffic is not a good place to close the eyes. Ha..Thank you. I missed your wit. Happy you are back home...
