Insomnia! - A Poem That Can't Sleep
So
A sleepless night
I've tried lying in my bed,
I just couldn't get any comfort
And I was restless in my head!
I tossed and turned, sighed loudly,
And made the occasional yawn,
Too hot, too cold, not sleepy,
I could lie this way till dawn!
Hmmm
This won't do,
I have a busy day ahead,
As the night goes on
I fear I'll face the coming day with dread!
Right that's it! I'm getting up,
I'm getting out of bed,
I'll have a hot and milky drink,
That should rest my head!
OK
I've had my drink now,
And very nice it tasted too,
But instead of feeling tired,
Now I need the loo!
So once I've done my business
I consider lying down,
But I glance up at the ceiling
And what I see just makes me frown!
Cobweb!
Oh dear!
This place really needs a dust,
It's probably not the time,
But really now I must!
So I do a bit of cleaning,
As quietly as I can,
Dust and polish (not hoover though)
I don't want to wake the clan...
Right
That's it!
I must try to get some sleep,
Don't look at the computer
Or my book that's really deep!
I am a little peckish though
Have I anything to munch?
I'll make myself a sandwich
And while I'm at it, tomorrows packed lunch!
Yawn!
I'm feeling tired now,
Perhaps I'll go lie down,
I rest my head and start to snooze
But what's that awful sound?
Oh! It's my alarm clock,
Telling me it's time to rise,
So up I get, feeling like,
I never shut my eyes!
