Intentions, we have many

By Tony DeLorger © 2012

Against all intentions,

life shapes our course,

and between what we fear,

what we want and what we do,

reality ensues.

It is never life that succeeds or fails,

hides behind a cloak of denial,

revels in false bravado

or lays prostrate in a swill of stagnancy.

It is never life that denies us anything,

not happiness, wealth,

notoriety, power

or love.

It is we alone,

who determine circumstance,

who fashion the suffering

and ill-conceived plans of our downfall.

It is we, driven by misconceptions and doubt,

who create the web in which we struggle,

in which we blame all else for our shortcomings,

for our ineptitudes and lack of awareness.

Life is as sweet as a rose,

perfect in form,

in beauty and perfume,

enlivening the senses

to stand in awe of perfection.

Life is not cruel, nor forgiving,

it is a blank canvas on which to paint,

as vividly as we can,

the celebration of being.

What remains at the end of life,

be it a masterpiece

or a dark and formless mass of paint,

is up to us, in every way.

Life simply is, and our expression of it,

our task.

Tony, this is just a remarkedly beautiful read! You have taken thankfulness, humanity, life, blessings and personal choice, and woven an awesome piece of advice: your life is what you make of it; make it your own! Voted "Up", "Awesome", and "Beautiful"!
