I've known Rivers-A Poem

I have known rivers as deep as an open wound

I have known rivers which flow like bloodlines through

the month of June

In these rivers are stories old and new

they speak wisdom with truth

These rivers have shaped my conscious mind

I use these rivers to cross boundaries time after time

I swim in these rivers until I reached the Congo

Africa's great city under the sun

These rivers reveal history yet undone

Let these rivers be a testament to the human spirit

Use these rivers until you have beaten all the odds
