She sat down at the table and gently as
only a woman can do
Pulled back her hair to the comfort
spot behind her ear
Looking out of the window that inspires her tear slid from her cheek
For but one moment .....she cried......and then
took the blade of her pen and
carefully sliced into her soul
Though I did not see this ......
I felt it strongly
And yet........ in the very next moments of
her final hours there
she bared all......
And yet it was there that her true beauty
began to show itself.....In the words
falling from the pen of blood ....she bared
her broken heart.........But not broken
for long see
she heals herself
each and every time
in this very way
in bladestrokes

Oh this is beautiful ahorseback, but extremely sad and heart wrenching.

Writing is a great healer especially so for poets I think because we can pour our feelings onto paper.

I love "the comfort spot behind her ear" thats exactly what it is but I had never thought of it as such.

Voting up for its tender beauty my friend.

Ahorseback, this is an incredibly beautiful and powerful work of art. Writing is a catharsis...a 'lightening' of the soul and an act which lessens the sorrow...shared with others; the enormity is somehow diminished. I think of this poem as, almost, rebirth of hope, happiness and peace..if only for a while..and then..she takes up her pen, again, to allow that sweet release....a continuum of an ever lasting circle...sorrow/pain...release/

Once again , you touched on what all poets feel , male or female , we have a desire to get rid of what ails us or what makes us happy or calms and soothes us by writing , this was beautiful and inspiring and I loved it and voted it up and awesome and beautiful ,a lovely crafted piece :)

Another poem of depth and 'knowing', from a master of such poems. I relate to this as I feel that strong release in the words that I pen. You have described here in this poignant poem, the essence of why so many of us write. Beautiful words, Ahorseback, my votes to you.
